Story

Valley Community Services Board is a community based organization providing services for Behavioral Health, Substance Use, and Developmental Disability needs in the Waynesboro, Staunton, Highland and Augusta Counties localities.

We accept private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, and also provide services on a sliding scale, self pay method.

Mission

Our mission here at Valley Community Services Board is to provide community-based Behavioral Health, Developmental Disability, and Substance Use services to the citizens in the cities of Waynesboro and Staunton, and Counties of Highland and Augusta.

If you're looking for a good place for counseling or meds management I would recommend valley hope in Waynesboro, very educated doctors with a great environment. On to this place now; Atrocious, just absolutely awful counseling experience from callous, uneducated individuals. They will guile you out of any money they can, they talked people in counseling to briing them goods in exchange for easier, less demanding classes.They've been billing me weekly for a class I quit attending months ago, and charged me a fee for being employed when I was not. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

As a former employee for the group home setting and also personal counseling services VCSB has an awesome team of employees and services to those in the community with needs. It has been years since I have lived in VA and I still think of my days as their employee and patient. Thank you for your great services! I have learned so much and cherish it daily.  Sherry

The website is very misleading.  It says you can do intake over the phone which would have been easier for me since I work full time however the gentlemen that called me back was 1) RUDE! 2) they don't do intakes over the phone.  You might want to check your website and counsel your employees on not being so rude.

I have been going to psychiatrists and seeing councilors since I was in kindergarten and this is by far the worse place I have ever been. The councilor seemed more parrot then human, repeating my own self examination back to me in a different way. "It seems your angry because you've lost so much" no fooling, I just said that 10 mins ago. The psychiatrist put me on antidepressants that made me gain weight and acne so monstrous it was YouTube worthy and his solution for every side effect or issue with the med was to up the dosage. Each appointment was like speed dating. "How's your sleep, how's the anxiety, still depressed? Okay. Up the dosage, see you in 4 weeks." Flat out horrid. I truly feel sorry for those who can't afford to go anywhere else. Went to a new place, come to find out there is a 4 hour psychiatric exam to truly test and diagnose your mental illness, which wasn't even brought up the entire year+ I went here or anywhere else. So I've been handed fistfulls of garbage meds all these years without being properly diagnosed. Maybe the whole mental health system is just incompetent. Either way, this place is still bottom of the barrel.
