I want to share the experience I had at this establishment. When my husband died in January, I didn't know where to turn. The Valley Funeral Home was recommended to me by a nurse at the Emergency room where he died. They had him picked up immediately. I was able to meet Mimi and she took me by the hand to led me through this difficult time. She let me know what was offered and how she could help me handle all the details. We decided on cremation and having a memorial service. Mimi was so gracious and compassionate that I was able to make it through the whole process almost painlessly. With her calm assurances, I was better able to think through all of the many decisions without stress. They have a small chapel that was excellent for our needs and allowed us to arrange the service to our specifications. Mimi even arranged for an Honor Guard to make a flag presentation at the service, since my husband was a veteran. I don't know what I would have done without the care and concern which was shown by the complete staff and especiall by Mimi. I even decided to order a special military urn and Mimi arranged for me to be able to transport it to a memorial service which will be held in Oklahoma. I can't ever thank them enough for all the services given by Mimi and the staff. I hope this review will allow others to experience the same quality care that I did. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!!

This place is ghetto! If you can avoid going here I sure would! My experience with them started January 1, 2013 when I found out my dad passed away. I was so shocked I checked their website around 6am and it said open 24 hours and when I called they were extremely disrespectful and ghetto is the only word that comes to mind. Some man yelled at me and said" Do you know what time it is? We not even open" ... Then I was transferred to the receptionist who was now rude as well... At one point she asked me my age ( I sound young) I replied what does my age have to do with my father being buried. I finally I ended the call with her. Several hours later I called and spoke with Dan he seemed friendly and gave me information as far as prices. The next day after finding out my father's life insurance policy was contestable. Dan wasn't so nice. Now he didn't have time to talk to me... So I explained I needed a death certificate to get any monies from my dads policy. To that I was pressured to decided if I wanted to bury or cremate. So I ended the call to call back later with more information. I called back later and spoke with Mimi, because she was the only counselor available. The whole time she was on the phone she was eating something smacking in my ear and swallowing. She was very rude and arrogant. I told her I was going to get my dads liquid assets from his account while the insurance was pending to expidite to the burial process. She said, "Yo daddies money will be in the back fa 40 days before they let you get it". And I said okay well how long will you hold his remains before we get you the payment. She said "If they family cannot afford to pay we will hold the body here until account is paid in full". To that I took offense... Because NO ONE SAID WE COULDN'T AFFORD TO PAY. MY FATHER WAS A VETANIAM VETERAN. I ended that call shortly after. I live in another state so I made travel arrangements to go to Las Vegas to get my father's belongings and set up his funeral arrangements. I called the day before I was leaving after getting my fathers belongings and asked to come it it was 4PM that Friday. I spoke with Dan he said he was leaving and to come the next morning. I came the next morning. They have no real parking for clients. Just handicap. So I wondered if maybe parking was in the back. As I considered going that direction an employee of the funeral home began to wave in arms in a van at me like a maniac. He wouldn't stop so I gave him the finger. This must have infuriated him because he got out of the van ran through the funeral home and waited for me like he was going to fight me. I was with my 5 year old and this man looked like he used narcotics. He stood there and started arguing with me. And when his bosses came he lied on me!!! So finally he left I went inside. Besides the receptionists. No one greeted me. I waited for an hour. Before I decided to give up. I needed to get back to my home state. So I left. No one called, No one cared. I decided to move my dad to another facility, and called to find out the process. I haven't started the process yet. I cant until I get a death certificate. Today when I called to get his death certificate. They said they wouldn't help me unless I make arrangements with them. Updated 5/3/13 Dear Trashbag, oops Nancy Ruiz... Get some class idiot. First of all, why are you so passionate about my review? No normal person would take such offense unless some how you possibly worked from Valley Funeral Home... Well lets be clear. First of all you mention "education" and imply my lack of an education, and yet you can't even spell "situation" or "unfortunately".... So unfortunately for you Trashbag, I cannot respect your opinion of my situation. I actually went with BUNKERS funeral home, and the difference was amazing... And my father is resting in peace in California, honey. Perhaps your experience was a little different because I placed a formal complaint against Valley Funeral Home with the Coroner and the County. You're welcome, Trashbag...

OMG!! WHAT??!! I can not belive this Bivins girl, you sound like a brat, what r u talking about? If u had any education n if u know just a little about this u probably wouldn't be saying all this crap. I worked for a few months in a funeral home a couple of years ago, before and you have to tell them what is that u want to do with ur love one before they process anything, that i know for sure, dumbass!!!!! unfotunally i had to use Valley Funeral on December 2012 and i dont mean unfortunally because of their services but because of the situation that my family was on. We went if there and as soon as we walked in we were greeted by the receptionist and we had to wait for a couple of minutes because the consulers were busy and she offer coffee and water (which that was nice) then Mimi came out of her office and thanked us for waiting and we went into her office. Now our cituation was a little different one of my uncles just passed away and he had no immediate family in the USA and we didn't had any contact with kids or brothers in mexico (we explain the whole situation) she told us that we couln't cremate him because we were not the legal next of kin but she gave us the opption to get an EX-PARTE at the family court and then we can do it. That was a court order giving us and the funeral home permission to cremate my uncle. She was so nice when it can time to discus payment opptions and when we were going to be able to pick up the cremains. We gave her all his info and a FINAL DISPOSITION so they can start the process for permits with no money at all, we did call before he was cremated and paid, just like she asked us to. I personally think that all of the bad reviews are because u didn't get what you wanted. Just because ur love one passsed away doesn't mean that is other peoples fault. And just beause u come into a place yelling, screaming and having an attitude (BIVINS) other people are going to break legal rules JUST TO PLEASE YOU!I'm sorry but that's not the way it works. Now my question is, Bivins have you decide whta to do with daddy??? or you only care about a death certificate to get into his bank account and forgot about daddy????!!!

Dishonest and apathetic. I think they're all about the money. Lack of caring.

After the unexpected death of my dearly beloved son and living out of state, the coroner placed my sons body in Valley Funeral Home when we arrived there we were treated with the utmost respect and compassion and decided to use their services. Mimi is the greatest lady to ever walk this earth, she is just very thoughtful of the grieving family and demands no rushed decisions, she is very patient and very compassionate I speak highly of her. The price is very affordable and the viewing was done very tasteful they stood by with any help we needed in this sad time and made the family feel that it was all in very good hands. Thank you Valley Funeral Home and especially Mimi, we can not thank you enough. The mother of the deceased Jeff, Annemarie. June 2010
