I can’t recommend this practice highly enough. Dr. Ballagas performed surgery on our beloved 8-year-old poodle, Stanley, and Dr. B has been exceptionally kind, thorough, and reassuring while being straightforward and open. Barbara and Cassandra at the front desk are always so professional and friendly. They’re extremely knowledgeable, as well. We had what we thought was a post-op emergency (it turned out we were overreacting), and Dr. Vaughn, who happened to be at the clinic after hours, took the time to check on our pup to make sure he was fine. He was careful and thorough and extremely kind. They do not charge more than is necessary, and they are worth every penny. This practice is such a gift to the area, and I am so grateful for it.

Dr. Dismukes and the whole staff were great when our 13 week German Shepherd needed surgery. They took the time to explain what they were doing and how it would be done. I never felt rushed or like I was being taken advantage of. I felt like my dog was the most important dog in the facility even though I knew she was no more than any other pet there. I would highly recommend VSB to anyone.

Our puppy Apollo was struck by a car and suffered a broken leg at his left knee three weeks ago in Oxford Alabama. Our local vet here referred us to Dr. Dismukes for surgery to repair his leg which was the only option we had. I cannot put into words how wonderful that decision became and how truly grateful we are to him and his amazing staff. From the time we walked through the doors we were put at ease as the staff came over to him in the lobby and went over everything with us as they talked to him and let him familiarize himself with them. They treated us as though we were family, explaining everything step by step on what would be done and what we could expect from the surgery. Dr. Dismukes came into the exam room and bonded with Apollo immediately like he had known him for years which was an incredible experience for us and for him. He stayed overnight after his surgery and upon picking him up the next morning he spent time going over all of his medication, how the surgery went and what we needed to do to help him recover until he came back for his two week checkup. We also received calls and texts from the staff and the Dr. After his surgery was completed letting us know how everything went and how he was doing. I never imagined that taking our baby to an orthopedic surgeon would be such an enjoyable experience during such a stressful and heartbreaking time but we cannot over-state how much we appreciate everything Dr. Dismukes and his staff did for us and Apollo and how much we owe them for bringing him back to health and restoring his quality of life. He will fully recover and he will be as good as new once his pins are taken out soon. We highly recommend anyone who has a fur baby at home with any issues that would require a procedure to look no further than this clinic, we promise that you will never regret it! Thank you so much for everything you have done for Apollo, you gave us our sweet dog back and treated him better than we ever thought possible!!!

Dr. Ballagas fixed Jodi's botched fracture repair at a previous site! It was certainly technically difficult and we're both very grateful!

Truly one of the best surgery centers for canine back injuries. Dr. Milton saved our Daschunds life who was suffering from IVDD. The after care and recovery provided following the survey was amazing , highly recommend this vet center.
