I've been doing business with Southern Rings and Brenda for decades. No, they are not a "Kay Jewelers", at least not cosmetically. However, these guys do some seriously good work, and have the best prices around. With Southern rings you are dealing with the Experts. And why would Brenda ask questions ... so she can understand her customer's better, and that's what makes them special. Look if you want the glitz (and over-pricing) of the Mall Stores, go for it. They'll sell you something that might look good, but expect it to be not what they say it is. For example, I bought a 2 Carat Emerald cut diamond and ring from Aucoin Hart a few years back (it was my fiancee's idea, not mine). The wedding did not happen, so I wanted to sell the stone. That's when I found out Aucoin Hart had essentially cheated me on Stone Quality, by using an "off cut", something they could work with and make look good, but a stone that has significantly diminished value on the open market. Expect that kind of thing from the Big Names. With Brenda you get no nonsense expertise, quality, and guidance; They can and will make whatever you want. If you are on a budget, they have answers. And their service is second to none, especially with custom jobs. So if you want to take your girl to a Glitzy Mall, and get ripped off, go ahead. I'm grateful that we here in New Orleans have a choice!

I brought my serpentine necklace that was given to me by my late father, to have an alligator clip put on it and when I got the necklace back, they gave me back a different piece of the clasp - not the original one that was stamped 14k. They removed it and did not return it to me. This necklace was sentimental to me. The manager, Brenda, was rude and acted non-chalant. She told me that they would look for my piece in the scrap pile but it was never found! I would not bring my jewelry to this place because they might not give you the original piece that you brought in.

Office manager is an obnoxious lady that insisted that we buy the ring and was even asking us personal questions. I would not recommend going there at all. My fiancee and I ended up going to Kay's jewelers in the mall and found a great deal on quality rings!
