We love this place! It is a family tradition that we come here every year. It is affordable and relaxed way to spend some quality family time. We hope to continue visiting for years to come!!

I'm not the type of person that leaves reviews. In fact, this is my first. However, I feel the need to do so about the deplorable conditions of this so-called "zoo!" This place was pathetic!!! Adequate food for some of the animals was questionable. Clean water was not available to many of them. Several of the animals seemed depressed and lethargic. Many of their cages were too small, damaged, and filthy. The horrendous odor, surrounding the small wild pigs' area, was so disgusting that I almost threw up! (honestly) Fences, throughout the facility, were in desperate need of repair. Trees were down all over the place. Exposed tree roots were a walking hazard throughout the trails. One of the bears had a huge patch of hair that was missing. The camel's fur was matted terribly. Other animals, such as the sheep, were in the same condition. In my honest opinion, it would be much more humane for these animals to be euthanized, than to continue living in such neglected and abusive conditions. Please don't make the same mistake I did, by visiting and supporting this horrible place!!! The owners should be ashamed of themselves, for forcing these animals to endure such torture on a daily basis!!!

Loved the Waccatee Zoo! I have been to Myrtle Beach many times a year for all of my life and had never heard of this zoo! It really is Myrtle Beach's "beast" kept secret, as they say. The animals were all up and active. They seemed to be very well cared for. It is a small zoo, but small isn't always less. Oh, and there are beautiful peacocks wandering around everywhere at this zoo! 2 tips: Buy the feed that is available when you walk in because you are allowed to feed almost all of the animals. Wear tennis shoes because the terrain is rough in some areas. This is not your average concrete zoo. It is a more natural type atmosphere.

The living conditions of the animals at Waccatee Zoological Farm was appalling. The lions, bears, and other big animals were in cages too small to get the exercise they need and to be happy. The monkeys and donkey were missing hair. The monkeys might have mange. There were too many rabbits in one cage and there was the same problem for the ring tailed lemurs and pigeons. The peacocks probably had the best care because they have free rein of the park. Many of the animals had very little food besides what people buy and throw in and many of the habitats had little to no water. There was a lamb with a broken leg that had to have been like that for a while and had no spint or cast or anything.

My family and I had so much fun here. My husband and I thought it would be fun for the kids to visit the zoo while on vacation. They all love it....Our kids ages span from 16 to 1. They have an animal for everyone to fall in love with. They have the cutest little monkey named Buzz, he has a ton of personality. He kept us entertained for at least 20 minutes. The staff is wonderful, none of the enclosures smell. They keep the zoo very clean.I would advise purchasing a large bag of food to feed the animals.... Maybe even two of them. We will definitely be coming back.
