The Animal Service Center is an open-admission shelter providing services to the citizens and pets of Watauga. The Shelter is open to lost, stray, and unwanted animals in the city. Animal Services provides humane care, shelter, and aoption services.

GOALS & MISSION:
Animal Services is a division of the Watauga Police Department. Our goal is to protect the health and safety of both humans and animals in the
community. Animal Services promotes the humane treatment of animals and encourages
responsible pet ownership. Animal Services aims to provide both professional and reliable services for the citizens and animals of Watauga.

Had to take my mothers dog because she couldnt take care of it anymore. She is staye 6 dementia. I was trested like a POS by the staff and accused of lying about surrendering the animal. I was literallu in tears explaining my situation, of diapering my mother 3 times a fsy, with 3 dog ofy own and that i regularly donaye to the SPCA, before one of the ladies finally said it is okay. Worst experience to date. I have never surrendered an animal and they let me know it would be euthanized. No mercy, no understanding.

I brought a found dog in and as soon as I walked in a free roaming cat jumped off the counter and approached the dog. I then got jumped on by the lady behind the front desk because the dog was near the cat. The dog was on a 4 foot leash and right beside me. It's not my fault that the cat approached the dog. Very very rude people. I hate dropping animals off here, but I just don't have a choice sometimes.

The kennels are clean-ish, but the staff up front was not exactly welcoming. I walked in during a not-so-busy time, and they acted like I'd interrupted them. They treated me like I was an idiot when I asked to see the dogs (yes, there's a sign, but every other shelter I've been to you have to show ID or something). There were 5 women up front, and NO one engaging the animals. I mean, I get that there are other things to do, but they were all just sitting and chatting. If I could have taken all those babies home, I would have. Horrible.

Great place that truly cares about their animals. Officer Garcia goes above and beyond to make sure the animals go to a good home.

I called to try and locate my missing dog and the receptionist was extremly rude and less than helpful. I hope mine, or any other person's animal doesnt get dropped off here
