Watson's Mill

About

Watson’s Mill is a unique 19th century grist and flour mill located in Manotick, operating as a living heritage site and community museum.

Story

The WMMI mandate is to preserve Watson's Mill as a working heritage grist and flour mill, and as an educational, social and cultural focal point for the community and visitors.

For information on upcoming events, please check our Facebook page and our website at www.watsonsmill.com.

In order to book Watson's Mill for wedding or other occasion photos, please contact [email protected].

Watson's Mill: Summer hours: daily May through October and other times by appointment. Tours and admission by donation.

The Watson's Mill office is located on the 2nd floor of the Carriage Shed: office hours are weekdays, 9am to 5pm, year round. In addition, public restrooms and first aid station are available in this building.

The Carriage Shed houses the Used Book Sale, which is entirely run by an amazing team of volunteers. The book sale is open daily from May 1st to mid-November.

Winter activities in the Carriage Shed include PD day camps, wine tastings, lecture series, workshops and more! Visit the website for the complete schedule of events.

We are also very active in our community: monthly concert series at Manotick United Church, occasional quiz night at Manotick Mill Tavern, and we participate in all the festivals!

The Watson's Mill is an amazing historical place to visit. With four floors of fascinating history and the classic ways to make flour to learn about, there are also stories of the people who had worked there years ago. There is wonderful service from the people who work there, that are always willing to speak to you. Highly recommend visiting.

Went for the Christmas market and carol singing. Arrived at 3:20 because the market was advertised till 4 they closed 90% of the market at 3:30 was rather disappointed at that. Managed to still do carriage ride. The carol singing was lovely. Looked a very interesting mill in a beautiful location.

Watson's Mill is a nice little historic building in Manotick. The volunteers wear period clothes and offer tours of the Mill (It's set up a bit like a mini museum). The Mill is free to visit. They sell duck pellets that you can feed to the ducks that hang out near the Mill. There is also a used bookstore across the street which is affiliated with the Mill and usually has classic novels for a steal.

This is a very cool actually functional Old Mill. If you go on the right day the mill is actually operating and you can buy some of the flour that they produce there. Located in Manotick on the Rideau River the scenery is absolutely beautiful in particular in the fall. After a tour I highly recommend a stop at Miller's oven just down the road for lunch. The lemon meringue pie can't be beat.
