Nice venue for the size show we went to, Drive By Truckers. We haven't seen them for a while due to multiple reasons. But we hadn't seen our NY buddy in a while either. So the show was good, early enough for me to get to bed at a reasonable hour. Didn't have to stand in line for hours and then wait hours for the band to go on. No craziness were it was so packed that it was almost impossible to go to the bathroom. No pushing from the hordes of people wanting to get to the rail. Overall I would have to say this was a pretty good show for the band and I feel the venue helped. Of course at the end the staff immediately tells you to leave and starts cleaning. Again the floor was not super wet, super sticky or super disgusting...like it normally is. The only odd thing for me besides the politics from the band...no surprise just disappointing. Is that the bathroom is unisex. It is a large room not enclosed with 5 or 6 stalls for whomever to use. Some sinks and an attendant to provide paper towels, etc... I don't have any problems with this, it is just my first coming from a small town.

Certainly not my favorite venue, but I suppose I can understand the iconic status that this place holds. Book the right artist, and I'll definitely be willing to make a return visit. As a resident of NYC, via the outer borough of Queens, I suppose I've been putting off my obligation to visit this venue for far too long. After being a denizen of the greater NYC area for the better part of 6 years, I finally rectified my failure to visit this place. Getting in was a nightmare. Yellow Claw was headlining the night I attended, so my group got in line with the rest of the ratchets (who were all very friendly while we were all in queue). The halal cart wasn't very much appreciated being so close a vicinity to the line... not only was food of any kind a tantalizing prospect at that moment in time... but we all know that the smell of charred BBQ-ed meats is a scent that does a very good job of latching onto one's apparel and hair (which does not make for a very good dance floor scent). Having to endure a number of minutes (20-30) in the midst of wafting meaty smoke was not ideal. Finally, the line started to move and myself + crew were finally able to hit up the showroom floor. The place was packed, and the crowd was hyped... so the environment and the vibe already evidenced the makings of a good night. I will say that the venue was a lot smaller than I anticipated, and with everyone wanting to get as close to the front as humanly possible, this easily resulted in a sardine can effect, to which one could expect a number of small skirmishes to commence as substance induced tempers flared up. It was with this in mind that my group and I were content to hang to the side and let the ratchets pick each other to pieces (although even the sides had their own fair share of elbows and rudeness occurring... but I suppose that's always to be expected, unfortunately). The artists that were booked, however, played great sets; the dark classic aesthetics of the showroom added a lot of character to the place, which I happened to appreciate... it was almost jarring. The light show and LED screen did a good enough job of adding enough visual substance to the show (albeit, nothing mind-blowing). The sound was well balanced... as I didn't notice too much bass (it was a trap happy night, so lots of that weird clang-y noise that we all know and love). Certainly not my favorite venue, but I suppose I can understand the iconic status that this place holds. Book the right artist, and I'll definitely be willing to make a return visit.

One of the better clubs in NYC. Great 3 floor set up. Always look online for tickets, normally you can see great artists playing here for about $20. Bar is expensive, but on par with New York night life.

Always a good time at Webster Hall. The ballroom is one of the best for live music. Catch a local show downstairs or a crazy event on a weekend! 90s prom is also a must once in your life.

I went with a group of people to see our friend's band play. The gig was great, and the venue would have been fine if it weren't for the management. The term 'cheapskates' comes to mind. Half way through the gig I went to the bar to get a glass of water. I had a small bottle of water placed in front of me, and was told that it would be $5! When I argued that I just wanted tap water, I was told that they don't make enough money on alcohol to justify giving away free water. Considering they charge $10 for a beer and the entry fee was $12, I can't possibly imagine how $22 wouldn't cover the cost price of a glass of tap water. When I asked to speak to the manager, I was left waiting for 10 minutes before I gave up and left. Honestly, I wont be going back as I don't want to support a venue that is so cheap that they won't even give away tap water to their paying patrons.
