Story

The Travel Channel named this campground "One of the World's Top Ten Richest RV Parks" for the experience of sleeping just yards from wild animals at Lion Country Safari's drive-through safari and amusement park. Campers can hear lions roar and siamangs hoot throughout the day! When you camp here, you'll feel like you're on an adventure in the African bush. This full-service campground with 233 sites includes Cabins, pull thru sites and tent sites. There's also a pavilion for groups, a large playground, a resort-size pool, shuffleboard, volleyball, basketball and a dog park. The store carries all sorts of safari merchandise. This campground has received KOA's President's Award and Founder's Award for its outstanding facility and operation.

The main complaint that I have is that I was expecting different quality from a KOA. The ones in the past have always had immaculately clean bathrooms. These restrooms were older and did not have the cleanest feeling. The water never got hot enough for me and the one stall had an unsafe and chipped soap tray. The liner had stains and I just did not come out with a sense of cleanliness. I understand it is a campground but I had higher expectations for a KOA. We did our own tent site and we were very happy with the size of our lot. We had plenty of space on our site and appreciated the electrical and water on our site. The pool was heated at the time and it was quite spacious. It went to 6 ft deep as well. I had been looking forward to a hot tub but they did not have one. The play structure would benefit from being shaded as it is sweltering hot in Florida and it was nothing special but my young kids did not know any better. They enjoyed it. They had a basketball court, volleyball net and various other sports areas. We pretty much stuck to the site, park and pool. We were there to enjoy relaxing at the site and exploring the safari. It worked great for us and we did a 4 person family, 3 night special including 2 days of the safari for like $243 which was affordable to me. I just recommend updating the bathrooms, better cleaning of them and possibly shading the play structure. A hot tub would be a nice addition also. 😉

Wonderful staff! KATHY, the manager goes out of her way to make your visit delightful. Very nice sites, clean, lots of room, flowers, palm trees. Great Florida experience. Lots to do, close to shopping and amenities for the kids. Great pool and playground, great showers, laundry room, and everyone is friendly. I look forward to returning next year. Best KOA ever.

We had an absolute blast visiting the Lions Safari Park, for about 35$ you get a whole day packed with animals, attractions and interactive experiences. First you do a Safari tour in your own car, where you see a lot of different animals such as Zebras, Lions, Monkeys etc. You also receive a CD, which guides you through all 11 parks. After that, you can enter the "attraction area", where you can feed birds, play minigolf, ride different mechanical attractions and see animals up close. Staff is very helpful, park was clean and the prices are absolutely amazing. You also receive discounts for other activities at the entrance.

My family and I have been coming here for years! We absolutely love it. We have done our own tent camping & the Cabins, and always take advantage of the Safari next door. Between the pool, playground and just being outside there is plenty of stuff for the little ones! I have read that people think this is over priced, when you consider all the amenities that are offered I feel as if the price is more than fair. Its clean, grounds are well kept, and the staff is friendly. The staff tries to accommodate as much as possible, late check ins, specific sites ect. If you are looking for a wilderness camp trip, this isn't the place. It's a camp ground which means sites are pretty close together, there are children running and playing as they make new friends for the short time they are there, so it can get a little noisy, but it's the sound of joy! It's just far enough away from the hustle and bustle, to feel like you have left civilization behind, but close enough in case you have to run to the store for whatever you forgot at home and the little on-site store may not have. . As I said my family and I love this place, my kids are 14 and 11 now and they still enjoy going! We are actually planning on driving down in a couple of months just to unplug, relax, and wake up with the lions!

Traveled to this KOA alone with four children and stayed in the Safari tent (loved the tent). The campgrounds, bathrooms and pool were clean and we felt very safe knowing secuirty was patrolling the campgrounds at night. Lion Country Safari was also a BIG HIT!! Highly recommended you stay at the KOA and visit LCS, you will not regret it. By the way YOU DO hear the lions roar in the morning, not a gimmick.
