Story

The Wisconsin Athletic Club is the largest and most respected privately owned athletic club in Wisconsin. Founded, and in continuous operation since 1976, the WAC now has seven club locations in West Allis, Waukesha, Greenfield, Wauwatosa, Downtown, the North Shore and Menomonee Falls. The WAC is consistently upgrading our equipment, services and facilities to meet our evolving member needs. Our goal is to make fitness both valuable and fun for our members, with convenient hours - including the first 24 hour health club in Milwaukee. We offer a wide variety of classes, lessons, personal training and group fitness programs for all levels up to senior. Our health and fitness programs have been honored nationally and endorsed locally with over 200 corporate wellness affiliations. it's a nice gym. my initial reason of going there was because it had a steam room to offer, but when I first tried it the smell was not pleasant for me. otherwise, the weight and equipments are enough for a good work out. the staffs are good.

My wife has gone here for several years. I started going in August 2016 and have enjoyed it since. Kids clubhouse and employees are awesome.

The place is small and cramped. If your a weight lifter, there is not a lot of equipment or room. A big area with two racks and enough room and equipment for deadlifting is off limits 4pm - 8pm every weekday in order to reserve the room for personal trainers. The trainers usually dont use the equipment anyways, but you can't work in the same room as them doing something totally different because WAC decided a trainer and their 3 students need a 4 hour block during after-work prime time work out hours. I wouldn't be so negative about this place's size restrictions if it didn't also have a decently sized sit-down bar in the middle of the gym. The bar exists in the middle of the gym when the place is starving for space as is. I only went here for a few days on a trial, but you have to wonder how someone could pay the ridiculous price (most expensive in the area) for what they get for this gym. Sure, theyr'e open 24 hours and have multiple locations. But, if this is the one closest to me and I have to go at 8pm to get a non-cramped non-restricted workout in, to me that just isn't worth it at all. I'd rather go to the YMCA which is cheaper and actually has room for equipment and working out. I will say that WAC was very clean though.

I've been going here for a couple months now and so far so good. The setup is a little awkward but the equipment all seems pretty well maintained, facilities are clean, staff is okay. I go late at night so feels like I pretty much owned the place when I'm there. Little busy during peak hours, feels a little cramped. Overall I like the place. I would definitely recommend it.
