Xiao Chi Jie

I've known this place previously through their soup dumplings which i ordered as a subscription. I applaud them for pivoting to a mail order service during the pandemic. We've finally gotten a chance to go there in person and dine in. My suggestion is actually to do take out rather than dine in. That place currently doesn't have much of an atmosphere, but the food is pretty good, regardless of what you order. And the mail ordered soup dumplings are just as good as the ones you get here. That's a compliment for the high quality of their frozen dumplings. The reason why you would do take out over the mail order is that you can get their pan fried dumplings careful when you bite into them, the soup will splash out and their dandan noodles are pretty yummy.

If you want the best soup dumplings in your home because you can't frequent the restaurant, order these! Shipping is quick, customer service is amazing and the dumplings are easy to make at home and really delicious! After reading/seeing how complex it is to make these, and the care put into ensuring that the dough and soup in them are perfect, I feel so lucky that Xiao Chi Jie will ship these bites of heaven to us in Colorado and all over. We love the Umami and Crispy Chili sauces too. I'm sure you'll love these as much as we do!

Please note this review is based on the mail order option. I live in Illinois so can't visit the physical restaurant.... yet!!! I may plan a special trip to California just to visit after having the mail order though. I bought the noodle pack and loved the Fan Dan, I will probably just buy a 6 pack of Dan Dan next time though tbh. the other one was good but not to my liking. I like the spicy noodles!!!!! I've been on tv for a ghost pepper chicken taco eating contest in Chicago so I know heat. These are hot but not too hot, with a ton of flavor. I just need to pick up green onions for them!!!! The dumplings are great!!! I bought the bamboo steamer - and heat water up in one of my woks. Then put the bamboo steamer in the wok. I make a special sauce using a spicy peanut sauce, a Japanese BBQ sauce and a local pumpkin hot sauce. Together it's heaven. And the best part of this is there is little prep, with even less clean up!!!! I can't say enough good things here!!! I'm highly satisfied at this quick meal. The skewers I only made once. And I'll reserve comment till I can try them again. Also great customer service!!! You respond fast to questions!!!

Sheng Jian is alright. But this gotta be the saddest Dan Dan noodle I’ve ever had. At $12 price point, not only the toppings offered seem minuscule and taste bland as shown in p1, you can also find noodles bonded together by strong nuclear force p2. I can find better Dan Dan in Japanese and other Chinese places at lower price. If y’all reach wanna try their food just stick with the main items

This is more of a fast food style of Chinese food. The xiao long bao are the highlight, while the noodles are quite close to what you would get at a grocery store. There are a few tables to sit at, and the prices are affordable. Ultimately, it's a forgettable place with a small menu that doesn't particularly stand out.

Shipping is quick, customer service is amazing, the dumplings are easy to make at home, and above all? They are really delicious! We discovered XCJ during the pandemic when we had suspended traveling to the one metropolitan area within a couple hours from us. We felt so lucky that Xiao Chi Jie ships these bites of heaven to us in Central Washington and all over. My review is about ordered from their site. We absolutely adore their dumplings and sauces! Completely recommend ordering through their site: you won't be disappointed, and I on the opposite coast received them in really short time. So quickly made up in a bamboo steam basket, though I'm sure there's alternative cooking methods. Once we exhaust our two bags, I foresee a future order! Favorite sauce: Classic Vinegar Husband has taken ownership of the Chili Crisp.

My mom ordered this to be delivered to me. They were a pleasant surprise and were packaged really well! It came with the soup dumplings and jia jiang mian. The soup noodles are perfect, especially on a cold winter day!Recommended dishesSheng Jian Bao Pork

These are so good! The dumplings arrived to our house in great condition and ready to either cook or throw in the freezer for later. We got the pork ones and they did not disappoint. You can find the steaming baskets a bit cheaper other places, but it was convenient to get everything together. We got the sauce trio. If you are a sauce person like me, try it! The vinegar sauce was okay, but the other two are great! I think the vinegar had a little crack in the container because it was making a mess everywhere and we ended up having to toss it after the first use. My 8 year old loves them and won't stop eating them until she is stuffed. I think she ate 8 or 9 the last time we made them. Time to order more!

First time we ordered the pork soup dumplings, we were blown away at how good they were. It being a frozen food, we didn't have high expectations but were surprised by the quality and freshness. There were no issues with the delivery. Everything arrived frozen and in great shape. The second order we put in was delayed by the carrier during a heat wave and everything arrived warm and melted. Even though it was the carrier's fault, thexcj customer service responded promptly and put in a replacement order for us at no cost. Definitely try the sauce trio! They level up the dumplings.
