Terrible food. They cut back on the quality and quantity of seafood. I went for dinner on a Sunday, as my first time to the place. I was the only customer. The place is not liked.

went to Yen on wilshire on a day with 2 co-workers, on a day when there were only 3 other tables and a couple of guys at the sushi bar. long story short, the younger waitress was HORRIBLE. spent more time on her phone in the service prep area (where we could see her). never refilled our water once, even after making eye contact with her while i was finishing my glass of water. SHE WAS HORRIBLE when i asked to substitute 2 pieces of sushi that i was allergic to, for 2 cheaper tuna pieces. also was VERY UNHELPFUL in giving any information about what had shellfish and crustacean (i'm allergic). finally had to get up and ask for help by an older lady waitress. the only thing i had was miso and rice because i wasn't sure or confident in ordering items on their confusing menu. HINT: if you like being treated like you don't matter, then this place is your spot. if you like to be informed of various food offerings, specials and what's actually in their "special" dishes... GO SOME WHERE ELSE!!! check out places like KULA & sushi stop, they both have amazingly nice and helpful staff BUT they're also ALWAYS BUSY... where as Yen is NOT.

Really bad experience. Not only my food did not come in time (had to cancel order), neither did the one for the adjacent tables. Not sure what is going on with the service

This place was my very favorite until they closed and reopened with a more limited menu and MUCH higher prices. They completely did away with their happy hour. They became less vegetarian friendly. I thought that previously this place was well-balanced because, while parking is very tough and it's next to a noisy Mexican restaurant that's booming all hours of the night, Yen's was quiet, cheap, and had high quality food. Now it's very expensive so all the cons just kinda look like... cons. BUT I think they still serve Japanese Curry, a favorite in Japan and a very rare item to find in the US. If you haven't tried it, I recommend it! It's like vegetables and meat in a very thick brown gravy, like the gravy you'd find at Thanksgiving.

Found it by coincidence. Great place! Friendly, great sushi and really nice prices during happy hour.
