Yoshino Asian Fusion is a fun restaurant. The food is delicious and service is great. We went for lunch - they had just opened - and the restaurant was cold - it was early March but still very chilly. We both wore our coats to eat lunch. The seaweed salad was very good as were the two specialty rolls that we enjoyed. Overall, very good. The reason for four stars, is the price. I understand Shadyside prices, but $17 for a roll seemed high to me. Overall, very recommended and will return just be prepared to spend some money.
This is hands-down the best sushi experience I have ever had. The menu is absolutely immense and there’s a wide variety of creative sushi options. The sushi comes with very decorative plating and beautiful arrangements. I had a very simple avocado roll but it still came garnished with flowers and a little LED light on the side. My friend Scot specialty sushi and each one came with its own creative display. Not only was the food amazing but the service was spectacular. And at the end of the meal they gave us a special surprise that nobody was expecting. We all gave huge tips and would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.I was very pleased with the service here. The staff was extra friendly and very accommodating. The service was fast and accurate. The atmosphere was very welcoming and enjoyable. You would definitely like it here. I can’t recommend this location highly enough. I would definitely come back here for the great service and atmosphere. You certainly will not be disappointed with this wonderful establishment. Definitely stop by if you are in the neighborhood. I definitely will.
Had this place a few times for takeout, but today I ate in person. It was amazing!! I got the King of Flower roll and it was some of the best sushi I’ve had in the Burgh. We also got their chicken lettuce wraps and General Tsos. It was all delicious and will definitely eat in again! Would highly recommend this place!

I want to start this review by saying I got my food takeout. The sushi was not worth the price. I paid more than $20 for two different types of sushi that I expected would feed myself and my girlfriend. The rolls came out extremely small. When they gave me a single tray I thought they messed up my order and forgot to give me my second order. However they fit all the rolls into a single tray and it definitely was not worth the amount that I paid for it. Be ready to order more and drop more money than you expect. Maybe the indoor dining experience would be different but I’m definitely not ordering takeout from here again.
Stopped here for lunch and were somewhat underwhelmed. The place was mostly empty and sorely in need of a refresh as it looks badly worn. The table we were seated at was set for two settings, and we were four people. We were given four menus by the host, who told us the waitress would bring the missing two settings. She came by pretty promptly with waters, but only set them down and disappeared - no additional settings. It was only after we got some appetizers, and asked twice, that we got more plates, napkins, chopsticks, and forks. The negligent service continued throughout the meal. Food arrived with large gaps between courses which was not really understandable given that there were only three tables - including ours - in use at the time and no pickup or delivery orders. Over the course of the meal, the waitress showed up, dropped food off, and disappeared without so much as asking if everything was satisfactory. We got the vegetable dumplings and the Chive Roll. We had never seen one on a menu before so we had to try it and see how different it was from a scallion pancake. It's basically the same dough, but rather than having the scallions and sesame oil rolled into the dough, this has a mixture of chives, egg, and cellophane noodles wrapped in the dough which is then pan fried. Both were served with the same soy sauce based dipping sauce. We also tried the Stir-fried Udon noodles chicken was our protein choice and the Tempura Tofu Teriyaki. Quantities were generous and the noodles were done really well. I found the teriyaki sauce to be too clingingly sweet, but the others at the table like them. The Tempura came with a Ginger salad which turned to be chopped chunks of lettuce, a few slices of tomato, and a slathering of that dressing you get at Japanese steak houses. Not very gingery tasting unfortunately. Overall, the food was pretty good. The problem I had was the it ended up being pretty expensive considering that we had two entrees and two appetizers which cost almost $60 for lunch. Add the not so great service and I am not sure this place is worth another visit.
It's been a long time since I've had roti canai. and I've been craving it lately. Yoshino is known for their sushi, but they also serve this dish, among other items like Chinese classics, some Thai food, noodles, lots of appetizers, and more. I tried their shrimp egg roll, classic egg roll, pork dumplings, and roti canai. The egg rolls were relatively standard. I believe they gave me the wrong ones, though. I believe I received a spring roll with shrimp and an egg roll with pork not what I originally ordered. Still, they were pretty tasty. Not much shrimp in the shrimp roll. The egg roll was decent in size but a bit on the expensive side. Flavor is very standard, goes well with some of the complimentary sauces. I even dipped it in my leftover curry sauce. The pork dumplings were extremely disappointing. The only genuinely tasty part of these dumplings was the sauce. They were far too doughy and thick. The inside was odd and slimy. The pork was not raw, but seemed to be undercooked a bit. The smell was similar to peanuts and just strange. Flavor was terrible. Would not recommend. The roti Canai, however, was very good. I would go here just for some roti Canai, since it's difficult to find here in Pittsburgh. The roti portion was great and the bread was well made great texture, oiliness level, and flavor. The dipping sauce/curry was excellent. A bit sweet and coconutty, and paired so well with the roti. I just don't understand why they put the roti on some wilted lettuce no one is going to eat that lettuce, its irrelevant to the dish and it's just a waste. All in all, this place is known for sushi, and maybe that is their strength. But, their Chinese staples like egg rolls and dumplings are definitely lacking. If you come here, try the roti Canai its very tasty and difficult to find in this area. Prices are a bit on the high side.
I was craving a poke bowl and A few places came up but a lot of places were closed on Monday. Came across Yoshino and boy I’m happy the other places were closed. I ordered the Salmon Pole Bowl for carry out and it was delish. Usually when you order anything to go you don’t always get the best quality. I’m not sure how much better this poke bowl would’ve been had I dined in but I know my take out was wonderful. They have multiple protein options you can choose from to add to your poke bowl. It was very filling and fresh. It consist of Salmon, rice, shredded cucumbers, avocado, ginger, seaweed and wasabi. I definitely will be back. I was so ready to dive into my food then remembered I had to take a pic for my review. Highly recommend.
A nice restaurant located right on Shadyside's main drag of Walnut Street. They offer everything from sushi to poke bowls to tempura, Thai and Chinese offerings as well. The table had veggie dumplings. The agedashi tofu was perfect. The veggie tempura was overcooked slightly. The sushi was great, the veggies were extremely fresh. Soda was served in a can with no glass. No beer listed on menu.
Super cute place with a very chill vibe! The wait staff was very kind and quick! They even gave me the sake on the house, over all a very pleasant experience we stayed for a while and we weren't rushed at all! I'll definitely stop by again next time I'm in Pitt!Dine in: YesTakeout: Yes
