Z NYC Hotel – What the Future of Hotels Was Supposed to Be.

Transport yourself to an era of travel at once long gone, yet startlingly contemporary – even futuristic. Sleek, Jazz Age themes blend seamlessly with modernist industrial chic, creating a boutique hotel experience unlike any in New York City.

This is Z NYC Hotel – what the future of hotels was supposed to be.

A stunning, slender 14-story tower perched along the East River in the emerging, hip neighborhood of Long Island City, Z NYC Hotel offers a truly transformative experience. You’ll feel it when you enter the transportation-hub themed lobby, as the retro split-flap arrivals board beckons you to check in at the front desk constructed from classic steamer trunks. Everything hearkens back to a golden age of travel, when voyages were glamorous and thrilling.

That sensation extends to all 100 of our stylish, fully appointed guest rooms. The sweeping views of the entire Manhattan skyline through floor-to-ceiling windows will truly take your breath away. The panorama -- from the Williamsburg Bridge to the south to the Triborough Bridge to the north -- cannot be matched by any of Manhattan’s boutique hotels. It’s all there for your eyes to behold: the Empire State Building, the United Nations, the Chrysler Building, the Citicorp Center, the Queensboro (59th Street) Bridge – the visual feast is never-ending. Every room has the same billion-dollar view!

And yet, at Z NYC Hotel, you are so close to all that Manhattan has to offer – plus Brooklyn and Queens too! A dizzying array of public transportation options is just moments away, ready to whisk you anywhere in New York City. By car, you are less than 5 minutes from midtown Manhattan, 10 minutes from Central Park, Times Square and Broadway, and 20 minutes from downtown. The hotel is within walking distance of the wonderful arts and culinary destinations that have made Long Island City one of NYC’s hottest areas, as well as some of the major corporations that have offices here, including Citigroup, Rolex and (soon) JetBlue.

After a long day of work and/or play in the greatest city in the world, Z NYC’s warm, friendly staff welcomes you home. Relax with cocktails at our dual rooftop bars, where 360-degree views of New York City provide a truly unique backdrop. Unwind in our authentic outdoor beer garden. Dine in our subterranean restaurant and lounge – designed as a stylish, modern homage to the neighborhood’s industrial roots -- featuring terrific locally sourced cuisine. Then retire to your room, with the sparkle of NYC’s lights inspiring your dreams. In the morning, you’ll wake to the glow of the sunrise reflecting off the skyscrapers. Truly magical.

Great hotel for the price we paid. Shuttle service to and from Manhattan every hour. Rooms are big enough and very clean. Gorgeous view from the room at Manhattan. We did not use the breakfast service in the hotel. Overprized and in Manhattan you can get breakfast at every corner! Surely recommend this hotel!

I don't even know where to begin: first of all the wifi worked so badly and nobody seemed to know how to fix it. I tried connecting on multiple devices but it just didn't work properly. Next I wonder what the space designers of this hotel thought. Every hallway has open windows. Yes, just openings in the glass that you cannot close. So pretty much during winter you'd be coming out of your room into street temperature like in a cheap motel. Going on I must point out how worn out the furniture was. Quite frankly I was scared to sleep on that bad being afraid of bed bugs. Fortunately there wasn't any, but it was still very uncomfortable. There isn't even a chair in the room! You'll have to sit on an ottoman. Unbelievable! And the biggest discomfort was that heat couldn't be adjusted because it wasn't cold enough. I can assure you the room was freezing with windows sipping cold wind and the door being pretty much outside. The location is pretty inconvenient as well. The closest subway is a 10 minute walk away. I URGE everyone to stay away from this and this is pretty much a cheap motel branding itself as a "hip" boutique hotel. Please!

For the low price point you get amazing views of the city and a roof top bar with a breathtaking view

The manager staffed the night of September 22nd really went above and beyond for us. It was my best friends birthday and we also had friends from out of town. He escorted us to the roof top for amazing breath taking views of the city. The original staff had told us it was closed to the public and was only for hotel guests. Thank you! :-)

Good gravy. I'll try to not be overly negative in my review. Starting with the positives...1) the view is stellar. 2) The staff is extremely helpful and tried super hard. 3) Good water pressure in the shower. And...that's it. Moving on to the negatives and why you should stay away from this place. 1) You may notice a cold draft when you exit the elevator and begin walking to your room (after guessing which way to go because there are no signs to indicate which rooms are on which side). Why? That's because this shoddily-constructed hotel doesn't have an enclosed hallway. One side of it is just a plastic tarp with holes in it. I'm certain it leads to drafty rooms, which is why the room has heated floors. 2) Like the sound of that heated floor? Well, don't fall in love with it too much because it doesn't work. At least not in room 1109. 3) After walking in from the chilly hallway, we wanted to be in a warm room. It wasn't to be. The obnoxiously loud vent was set to 60 degrees and only churned out cold air. We shut it off and asked the front desk to look at it. They couldn't fix it, gave us a space heater from 1960 that only worked when on low, and promised to fix it the next morning. By 1 PM the next day, no one showed up so I reminded the front desk. Whatever they did didn't work because cold air only came out again and this time, we couldn't shut it off. 4) Have a food or beverage you'd like to keep cold? In room 1109 you'll have to do that by putting it on the vent spewing only cold air because the mini-fridge doesn’t work. 5) In keeping with the hotel theme, the entire room is just shoddy. The carpet is peeling and dirty, there are weird stains on the comforter including something that looked like a period stain, stains on the wall, worn and peeling fake leather furniture, cheap fixtures, thin walls that can’t block out the noise of jack-hammering on the street and other loud vents in the hotel, holes in the bathroom wall because it looked like someone made a mistake during construction and didn’t bother to fix it, and obviously a lot of broken appliances. I can forgive the small room size but come on Z Hotel...at least try to keep everything in working order. I realize this is not a five-star hotel and I didn't expect it to be. But for the price paid, we deserved functioning appliances. This place wants to be upscale but is cutting every corner possible to get there. It’s a disgrace to consumers. Look elsewhere.
