Amazing experience. You want some space in nyc? Some time to wind down and not get rushed by the long line outside the restaurant? Come here. Order the premium sake and the tasting menu. Top quality stuff, no cheap alcohol after-dinner dizziness!

I have been dying to go here and finally got the opportunity to earlier this month. I was not disappointed. My partner and I did the tasting menu with sake parings. Every course was delicious. The server was fantastic. I cannot recommend Zenkichi enough for a romantic dinner!

Food was extraordinary, service was good but the atmosphere is not romantic at all. The typical small tables from Japan with a curtain but in here you're in everyone's conversation. Ask for a table at the second floor of you want to feel comfortable. Also bad that everyone must order the tasting menu or carte. The drinks menu is just sake or beer. No wine at all.

Had the 8-Course Omakase Late Autumn meal and it was one of the most amazing experiences, every dish was just perfection with seasonal elements on the plate! The char on Grilled black cod and the Roasted and simmered duck breast stood out to me. The silky tofu with mushroom sauce and truffle oil had hidden subtle flavors that were so amazing to reveal! Though the entry door was a bit hard to find, once you are in, the experience here elevates Japanese cuisine to a whole new level. The serving was very professional and well timed. We finished our meal in two hours, on the dot! The private seating makes a very romantic atmosphere, the decor is very Asian and the place is clean. Adjacent to the restaurant is the Sake bar, a must try next time! If I had to say something that I didn't like too much, it would be the Frozen Black Sesame Mousse - it was too strong for my taste! Also, the table itself was a bit dark, as you can see from the pictures. I think a little more lighting may help elevate the decor, so we can appreciate the beautiful plating a bit more.
