Story

Abraxas Pet Resort has served in W. Jordan serving all of Salt Lake Valley residents for 30 years, and we absolutely adore animals. We can accommodate up to 120 cats and dogs, and we treat each of our furry guests as one of our own. We've never had a complaint from the Better Business Bureau in all our years of business, and we're always respectful of our customers and surrounding neighbors.

So disapointed. When I made my reservation to board my dog, the person I talked to didn't mention special hours or required paperwork. When I showed up to drop my dog off it was just after 5, the posted hours say they are open until 5:30. The person inside was irritated and said we need to be there before 5. She also said they would not take the dog unless we provided paperwork proving he had his shots. Not unreasonable but this was not mentioned when we talked over the phone to reserve boarding. She was completely unhelpful. She stated she was not the same person that I talked to on the phone, as if there is no shared responsibility within the company. So I have a flight tomorrow and nowhere to keep my dog while I am away for a week. I wish I had not relied on this place, it's a bad situation. Very poor service.

We take our goldendoodle to Abraxas for daycare daily and absolutely love the friendly and knowledgeable management and staff. From the first day we dropped her off, the staff paid attention to detail. They knew our dogs name, they knew our schedules, they matched my dog with other compatible dogs to play with, I even get free dog training tips from them often. On a rainy day our dog got into some mud while playing outside at daycare and they had the courtesy to clean her and dry her before we came to pick her up! If you stop and talk to the owner for five minutes you will be able to see these are real dog loving people. I love being able to drop my dog off and know she will be safe, played with, and best of all... worn out from all of the fun when I pick her up. You couldn't find better people, better prices, or better quality. I highly recommend Abraxas to anyone who wants their pet treated like they are part of the family!

We started taking our dog to doggy day care a couple weeks ago and they've been great. Our dog gets excited every time we pull up. They usually tell us what she did all day when we pick her up and it's great for her to play with the other dogs staying for day care.

We have left our Yorkchon over Thanksgiving break with Abraxas. I was so unhappy and angry so wanted to wait a while to leave review. When the staff brought up our puppy she had poop stuck on her bum. Staff gave us a tissue to get the poop out but it wasn't coming off so easily. It was Monday morning before work so we were in a rush and headed home straight away. After coming home, we gave a bath to our puppy and realized there were 3 layers of poop. Outer layer was so hard it was similar to her 2-3 days old poop, and then another 2 different layer. I was very angry instantly thinking the puppy weren't taken care for 2-3 days at all. Once we got the poop out, her bottom was stretched and bleeding. – The outer layer was stuck to her hair and there was no way she could have snapped it off as it was 3 layers. I was in tears and angry at both Abraxas and myself for ignoring the existing bad reviews of Abraxas on google and other sites. After cleaning her bum and putting some medication on, we realized she lost so much weight that all I could feel was bones. Her attitude had changed completely. She became so much timid but not in a good way - in a very sad way. Every time she fell asleep, she was having nightmares. She lost her playfulness and bubbly attitude; becoming very clingy. We went to the vet and the medication and visit cost us $200 - it could have been even worse if we have left her longer with Abraxas. I just wanted to highlight that please do not ignore the negative reviews on Abraxas. They are real and animals shouldn't be treated the way Abraxas treated our pup. I understand Thanksgiving is a busy period and many pets are being checked-in. However as a service provider, making sure pets are eating and being healthy should be the least they could do. I will never ever check my pet in with Abraxas ever again and I hope no one else does given what we have experienced. It took our puppy 2 full months to get back to the normal stage.

I have boarded my Aussie several times here and have had no bad experince with them. I also love the discount I get for having him groomed before I pick him up.
