First off this gym charges way to much no were near nice enough or big enough to charge anywere near that amount. Second if they try to hire a trainer they rudely state that if your certification took less then 2 weeks to get your not qualified to be a trainer there. People who have trained for many years have much more knowledge then most trainers. Do not bother signing up at this gym your better off going to retro fitness.

The gym is great for me... however, I do not use the fitness equipment, nor do I take classes. I use the pool. They just redid the olympic sized pool so it is nice and the water is a lot warmer than it used to be. Couple of cons though... the jets in the hot tub have been broken for a few weeks now. Also, the water pressure in the showers is not great at all and neither is the hot water. Showers are mostly cold and cool, never really that warm. Another problem is the crickets in the big pool area which is a recent problem since they finished the new pool. Never experienced it before. You can hear them chirping and that is tolerable but now they have begun to show up in the water. I swam into 3 this morning within a 10 minute period of time and had to fish them out with a net. 2 dead and 1 alive and kicking. So so gross! Others may not think that is a big deal but I am not a bug person at all and it ruined my work out. I reported it so we will see how they resolve the issue. Other than those things, I love the gym. The people are nice but I will have to rethink my membership if I have to swim with bugs.

Let me say this this place is not bad.. but could be cleaner, cheaper since planet fitness has more machines which I find much better. When my wife wanted to sign up and my daughter I added them into my account being rushed and not realizing that it was a contract for a year. Because my insurance pays for me to use the gym. So I didn't know when I asked to cut the membership they said I had to stay into the membership for a year which no one told me anything about it maybe some here in contract it says that but how would we know 12 months membership could also mean 12 months within that cost if it's 6 months it'll be a little higher. But nothing was explain to me also my daughter doesn't want to use the gym so I'm stuck with a payment ..

I enjoyed this place until it was time to call it quits. The weight room was not up to par. And all of the machines were very cramped in a small room in the basement. Not a lot of room to move around. The personal trainers also took up a lot of room doing their sessions with members, leaving even less space for those of us looking to get in our reps for the day. Most of the members are nice, they say hello and aren't jerks like at some gyms. Most of the front desk people are not very kind (some are nice). Only one personal trainer actually looks like he works out. My biggest complaint is from when TRIED to cancel my membership. My girlfriend called trying to cancel, and "Don" (GM?) hung up on her when she tried to find out how to cancel it. He kept saying there is no way to cancel in the first 12 months. When we signed the contract, we were under the impression that we could buy ourselves out with a 2 months notice. I guess we were wrong, but don wouldn't spend more then 2 minutes to explain that. After he hung up on my girlfriend I called back (I was a lot less nice then she was) and he completely denied hanging up on her. He could not keep his cool once I called him out on it. He said there was no way to cancel without proof of moving. Fine. He didn't mention that to my girlfriend, but he didn't stick around long enough for her to tell him that we were moving. He had better stuff to do I guess than deal with an unhappy customer (probably gets them all the time) Anyway, that was my experience. This place is basically a $35/month unsanitary planet fitness. If all you want is a treadmill and some machines, your good here as long as you'll be here for a full year. If you want weightlifting, be warned that the 20' x 40' room that they call a free weight room is not only small, but most of the floor is completely uneven. I noticed it on every single bench rep. Would not recommend this place at all.

i'll give you my honest opinion of this place. In high school I first started going there when our swim team would use there pool to practice in. It's a really big pool and there's plenty of room. The only problem with the pool I have is that it's really dim, not much lighting. As far as the gym itself goes I liked it. I agree with some other complaints that it's pretty small and the equipment could be in better condition. You can make do though. As far as the staff goes most of them are very friendly and kind. A few are quiet and keep to themselves, but no one is rude or anything like that. My 3 biggest complaints with AFC are the amount of time the older spoke use machines, like they sit on them and barely use them for an hour. Even if you say something to them they really don't care. Two, the hours on the weekends. Now I know a lot of gyms close earlier on Saturday and Sunday, but I need a gym I can go to later on especially since I don't have the 9-5 M-F schedule. Lastly, they don't have a lot of equipment so if something is in use you're kind of SOL. Still I enjoyed my time there, but I had to make a switch to a gym with better hours and more equipment options.
