Story

Agate Beach Motel provides the comfort and amenities of today’s finest hotels while keeping the simplicity of the 1940’s motor lodge. Our accommodations are some of the coziest motel rooms in Newport. We have both covered parking and drive-up parking bungalows available. Each suite has an outstanding view of the ocean, lawn, and trees surrounding the motel.

We usually don't give motels a chance. So glad we listened & took a chance when Agate Beach Motel was recommended by our brother, who is pretty picky about where he stays. I'll begin by saying that the experience on the phone was so helpful. We made same day reservations, which was possible only because of the season. She helped us get the best rate and room with a view. And what a view!!! We woke up to the waves crashing on the beach right in front of us! We arrived after dark, but could smell the ocean & hear the waves as we got out of the car. It was raining, so the carport was especially nice, with a 3 foot walk to the door. They left the light on for us, the heat on & we knew comfort, cleanliness & rest were to be had this night. You won't find a cleaner place. For a price less expensive than any hotel, we had a kitchen, dining & living room area, which included a very comfortable pull out couch with a quality mattress I never knew existed in a sofa. This particular unit only had a shower & I was at first bummed because part of my preparing for bed ritual includes a warm bath. The heater in this bathroom kicks butt! I was toasty warm after about 2 minutes. THE BED. The most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on away from home. Quite possibly even more comfortable than my own. And the sheets were extra soft. After a week of sleeping in finer hotels, this was by far the best night's sleep I had on our trip. The small touches make all the difference. It's a good thing the chocolate mints left on the night stand were no more than 2, or I would have devoured the bag - dang, I forgot to ask what kind they were. The soaps, lotion & hair products are not your typical hotel handouts. They were quality products locally made. The coffee, filters & maker were easy to use & handy. They don't serve breakfast at this price, but if you're frugal, stop at the store & pick up what you need to fix your own in the morning while enjoying the view in the comfort of your own space. You have all you need to do so. We weren't that prepared, but if we had been, we would have missed the great breakfast we had at The Coffee House. We highly recommend that one. I just can't say enough about this gem on the coast. We definitely intend to stay here again. Next time Newport will be our destination! Love this town!

We stayed here has a beautiful view and you just take a path down to the beach and there is the ocean! It feels like you have your own little house on the beach! And they have movies in the lobby that you can watch!

This place feels like a secret. Nestled on a cliff side over looking the ocean, this motel will make you feel like you're at your home away from home. The staff are so caring and nice. The rooms offer a full kitchen and good size bathroom. They're pet friendly and offer beach access.

Parked to check availability but wanted to take a picture of the sunset first... Front desk lady came out yelling about it not being a pass through to the beach before we even had a chance to say anything. No thank you.

It was absolutely breath taking! We were with our Grandsons.We are from Powell a little town in Wyoming and had never been to a beach.I think we were in # 5 or 6 with a little car port. It was so clean.I pray we can go there again.
