Mission Statement: To protect, preserve, and share the courageous history of the early motorcycle policemen and to bring greater understanding of the policeman’s role to the people they serve.
Museum Dedication: This Museum is dedicated to every man and woman who has worn the uniform that protects their country, state, county, city or town with respect, dignity and courage.
The museum features a 1948 Indian Police Motorcycle outfitted for the Laconia Police Department and a 1940 Chevrolet police sedan outfitted for the Meredith Police Department. We have restored both of these police vehicles to be period correct and outfitted with all police equipment including radios. As part of your museum experience, we have police motorcycle uniforms from the 1940′s for guests of the museum to wear while having their picture taken on the 1948 police motorcycle.
Police Motorcycle Timeline: The museum will feature an authentic police motorcycle from every decade, a written history and a pictorial display showcasing police motorcycles through time. In addition, there will be a uniform display to showcase the earliest police motorcycle uniform to their modern day counterpart.
Active Duty Service Members: We welcome and encourage a visit from our active duty brave men and women in uniform who serve our country with dignity and distinction. You and your guest will be admitted free of charge as a sign of our appreciation of your service. Within the museum, there will be an exhibit featuring a World War II Jeep and a 1941 Indian motorcycle specifically designed for military use during World War II. This motorcycle is specifically reserved for you to have your picture taken.
Movie Theater: We will be showing early police motorcycle training films, footage of police motorcycles as early as 1918, and many rare clips from news reels and early movies. In addition to the movies, hundreds of early still photographs will be displayed via a slide show for all to enjoy.
Police Motorcycle Maintenance Shop: We will be restoring in real-time a 1929 Indian police motorcycle and a 1970 Triumph police motorcycle in the workshop area. This area will also display police equipment from the earliest to the equipment in current use.
