History of America through a century of signage!

Story

The museum is home to the history of American signage over the last century. Signs from the late 1800's are hand painted and gold leafed. Milk glass letters illuminate the electric age alongside bare bulbs. The thirty's gave rise to neon signs and a rainbow of new signs. Post war, plastics became quite popular.

All these era's come together on Main Street, where we've recreated a streetscape you'll have to see to believe!

It's a great family activity, and the most unique party space in Cincinnati!

This is a GREAT way to spend an afternoon in Cincinnati! I was expecting a collection of vintage signs, but what was most fascinating is the manner in which these roadside gems are curated, arranged, and explained. This is as much a historical lesson as it is a design display, because signs are arranged chronologically, and date back at least a hundred years. The show stoppers, of course, are the neon behemoths in the main gallery, and they don't disappoint. Lovingly restored, these are true masterpieces of design and craftsmanship, and there are some fascinating bits of information about the signs. The museum also has a working sign restoration and repair facility onsite, and if you're lucky, you can see works in progress in the workshop. American Sign Museum also offers services as a reception facility, and I can only imagine how much fun it would be to attend an event there. I had one free day in Cincinnati, and feel very fortunate to have found this off the beaten path collection to enjoy for an afternoon.

I did not expect to like this place. I really wanted to give it a miss but my daughter wanted to see it so we went. I have to say I was surprised. The place was a lot of fun to look through. I enjoyed walking down memory lane seeing signs I had forgotten about and didn't even realize we didn't see any more. Check this place out

A wonderfully quirky and awesome sign museum where you would least expect it - in a former factory in of all places, Camp Washington. A graveyard of signs dots the parking lot and gives a glimpse of what to expect inside. There is even a small gift shop. Cost is $15 which may or may not keep you from visiting but I hope not. Looking for something different to do? This is it. A must stop for graphic designers and Americana lovers.

American Sign Museum is a perfect weekend activity for families and friends. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Their collection of neon and light-up signs is amazing! It's not all that big - 2 hours is more than enough time to take your time and see the whole museum. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Great place with tours at 11 am and 2 pm. If you're lucky you'll get a demonstration of creating neon signs! Definitely a must see if you like signage and are in the area.
