It was my first time trying Malaysian cuisine and I loved every bite! This restaurant is located in a busy plaza with tight parking. No reservations required. The interior has a very clean and welcoming vibe. Service was a bit slow since they only had two waiters, but they were nice. We ordered the mango chicken and a curry dish. Very unique and blended flavors. I would recommend if you wanted something new!
Fun times last night at the always bustling Shanghai Plaza in Chinatown for Valentine’s Day. Never had Malaysian food before, so we tried the Banana Leaf Cafe. With his “blend of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and European recipes,” Chef Lee brought the magic on all levels, with a vibrant + deeply satisfying mix of flavors + textures. Thumbs up on those Curry Puffs, the Chilean Seabass, Banana Leaf Curry Chicken, Hokkien Noodles + the “Three Treasures” mix of eggplant, okra + string beans plenty of leftovers for tonight!. It wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day without dessert, so we brought home some excellent buns from the 85C Bakery Cafe at the plaza.
Decent food but taste not fully there. Oyster omelette was a disappointment, nothing Malaysian about it. Oysters also tasted a little funny. Coconut rice was fragrant but a touch overcooked, too soft. Sambal and chicken was spot on. Bill was higher than the menu prices???? but I rolled with it. Also they charged me an item I didn't get so that one I disputed
Malaysian Cuisine at its finest!! Wasn't able to take a picture of the Seafood fried rice because I was hungry I wanted to try the spare ribs but they were sold out. Too bad but overall, the food were good, the service was a bit slow just because they only have a few crew.
At the Shainghai Plaza. One of my favorites in this plaza. They have great selection of dishes. I thought at first, I would be intimidated since I never had Malaysian food but no, you'll be just fine. Overall experience is great!
We came here based on a deal from Groupon and didn't really know what to expect with Malaysian food. Based on this experience, we're both big fans now! Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - both dishes based on servers recommendation and they were absolutely delicious. Banana Leaf Curry Chicken M3 had a slight kick that went well with the savoriness of the curry. The most tender chicken ever! Was very surprised at the texture since we knew the veggies would be tender but not the protein. Nyonya Grilled Fish SF12 was a whole fish grilled inside aluminum foil with a great sauce that had sweetness from pineapples, acidity from tomatoes, slight chew from the green beans, and the eggplant that melts in your mouth. The fish was also super tender and fell away from the bone with the lightest pressure. Ambience: 5/5 - simple decorations but very clean. Service: 5/5 - our server, Jennifer, was super friendly and chatted with us a bit regarding some great recommendations. Value for price: 5/5 - large portion and we had leftovers
Located in the Shanghai plaza and was recommended by a youtuber Las Vegas Eats 702. Very disappointing to say the least. We ordered Coconut Shrimp, Mango Chicken, Indian Mee Goreng, and Spicy Squid. The chicken and squid had the same tangy, vinegar, sweet sauce which we didn't really care too much. The vinegar taste was a bit overwhelming which usually happens with these kind of dish. The coconut shrimp had an average taste and came on a coconut dish not real coconut, and Indian Mee Goreng was good, but it lacked that zesty flavor. Unlike the youtuber, I do not recommend this place due to value and taste. I had better Maylasian restaurants than this in other cities. Perhaps the location of this restaurant is a hindrance to their competitive edge. We won't go back again.
It's so rare to find Malaysian cuisine and this place just hits the spot. I'm so happy we finally found our go to. The service was great, but we also came for dinner time on a Wednesday night. Of course, no parking at Shanghai Plaza, the place is always full, and I'm proud of that esp being Vegas grown. But I was determined to try this place. I'm so glad I remembered! We ordered the Soft Shell crab with aromatic flavors frkn AMAZING, the sizzling Tofu also full of flavors, and the Singapore fried rice noodle. It was perfect servings for 2 people. The price is affordable esp with how much they serve. That soft shell crab was delicious! You would think it would be all soggy bc of the sauce, but NOPE, it retained its crunch - but those flavors...wow. I'm not used to seasoned soft shell crab lol and now I know where to get it! Their sizzling Tofu def sizzled when it arrived to our table. It hit all the right spots. The Singapore fried rice noodle is a compromise between fried rice and crispy noodle. The flavor was perfect for me. We'll be coming back for sure.
Great little place at Shanghai Plaza in Las Vegas. The mango chicken was my favorite! Super tasty, not greasy and very affordable. The beef rendang was delicious as well. Had a very decent menu. Both orders came with rice. Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly. Although, I didnt ask about high chairs. Parking: They have a large parking lot, sometimes it gets really crowded.
I personally like the food taste. Real Asian taste. But don't like the services. The restaurant was superb cold with such low air cond temperature but the staff only increase 2F to keep us warm. Vegetarian options: No main meal of vegetarian. Just salad and appetizers. Parking: Quite pack on peak hour. You are lucky if managed to get 1 slot.
