Google Maps needs to update this listing, since the Barnes is now located on Benjamin Franklin Parkway, not in Lower Merion.

On the second floor at the Parkway location, there is no printed information to tell you about the art work exhibited in Rooms 16 and 17. It is expensive to see the Barnes Foundation and all of the Rooms should contain this information.

After visiting the Renoir exhibit in Philadelphia, I traveled to The Barnes Foundation for a tour of the art. There are few words to express the complete surprise that I experienced. The Foundation is better than any collection of artwork that I have ever seen other than those in France and Italy. Each room of art is a classroom, and that made the tour even better. The docent was wonderful in explaining the arrangement of the artwork and the furniture. This was magnificent. It is almost too much to take in during one visit. I am a bit sad that the collection will move to its new home in Philadelphia.

If you are like me, after an hour or three of looking at artwork from around the world and from throughout time, you get a little overwhelmed. Often when I go to museums I leave before I have seen all I planned on seeing because my mind is overwhelmed with feeling. The Barnes foundation is the perfect day trip experience for looking at art. When the amount of art filled my brain to capacity I took a stroll through the Barnes's lovely garden path, sat a moment on one of the stone benches near a little pond and I was ready for more. My friends and I spent the whole day there, about four to five hours and I can not wait until I go back. The presentation of the art is brilliant, the space is cozy, the layout, the surrounding garden, the staff, the headset recordings one can listen to (for a small fee), the ambiance, the art are all top notch. The whole place turns in to a wonderfully refreshing art museum experience and I could not recommend it more.
