About

"Where the Muslim American Experience Comes to Life"

Story

Islamic Cultural Preservation and Information Council (ICPIC) was founded in 1991, our educational and cultural programming was developed to inform and preserve our rich cultural heritage here in America. ICPIC's primary purpose is to preserve and document our rich cultural heritage and legacy to pass on to future generations and to foster intergroup awareness, respect, tolerance and multi-cultural understanding by way of public forums, work-shops, classroom presentations, youth and senior citizen programs, festivals, art exhibitions, literature, and multimedia outlets.

The New Africa Center/ Muslim American Museum and Archive opened its doors in June of 2005 located at 4243 Lancaster Avenue in Philadelphia, PA where the general public and Islamic communities can see exhibits and learn about Islamic history. We also offer school presentations, Open Mic Jams Sessions, an Artist Showcase once a month, workshops and summer youth learning.

Over the years ICPIC has served as a vital and valuable resource for the African American Muslim community. From 1991 the Council has successfully collaborated with the following Organizations:
• School District of Philadelphia
• The Pennsylvania Department of Education,
• Temple University
• University of Penn
• The City of Philadelphia
• Penn’s Landing Inc.
• PECO Energy
• PA Humanities Council
