My wife and I like Bealls, however, be warned that in some cases Bealls is ripping people off a little at a time. It must be a BEALLS policy since when I questioned the amount at the register, the woman checked and said it was correct. I was shopping with my wife on Dec 30, 2017. She bought 3 pair of HUE Soft Opaque Knee Hi instead of 2 to get the better deal. The NORMAL manufacturer price being $7 each or 3 for $18. There was a 30% off sale on them. You would think that she would have been given 30% off of the $18 for the three, but she was not. She was only given 30% off on the $7 for each. So instead of a total price of $13.48 (or $13.49 for the store not to lose the fraction of a cent) including the 7% tax, the amount paid was $15.73.

Beall's has always been a good place to shop as long as frequently changing staff know how to enter and use coupons correctly. One problem that has persisted over the years is with the closing staff. If you shop close to closing time, the staff make it clear that customers better clear out well before closing time so they can presumably leave at a reasonable time. Over the years different managers have taken different approaches. I recall one particularly assertive manager hustling customers out of the store 20 minutes before closing by physically posting staff at certain sections in cascading fashion to physically close off sections, one by one, to ensure customers we're in line well before closing. Every chain store goes through its ups and downs but I and other longtime fans of Bealls (all professional women) are contemplating leaving permanently given that shopping at Bealls has become uncomfortable under the tutelage of its current manager, "Mary Jo." Bealls becomes quite dysfunctional as it nears closing time. The staff is dour and customers are shocked as the manager insults them under her breath as she passes them around the store. She will speak disparagingly of a customer to the cashier.. while the customer is in earshot. Before the customer can react, the manager will race to the rear break area of the store where customers and staff alike hear her complaining loudly. "Mary Jo" is a passive aggressive, surly woman ill suited to customer service. When a customer requests a supervisor's contact information, the store manager appears to take an inapt degree of personal satisfaction in declaring customers have no recourse because, as Mary Jo states , "I AM the manager." I imagine this manager is not just driving away customers, but also the now absent talented young men and women who not only knew how to beautifully style merchandise, but who understood Bealls' core retail function and customer demographics.
