• Fundraising events open to the general public that are sponsored by service clubs, not-for-profit groups or other community based public institutions
• Public Service Announcements
• Promotion of Public Awareness weeks, such as Fire Safety Week
• Public Institutions for the purpose of communicating pertinent information to the general public
• Events of public interest
• Information of public interest
• Promotion of Tourism in Benson, Cochise County and the State of Arizona
• Networking for the purpose of establishing relationships, engaging residents and gaining knowledge to better serve residents and tourists and to encourage the promotion of Benson and Cochise County as a point of interest from outside sources

Prohibited Social Media/Networking Content:
Content containing any of the following will not be permitted to remain:
• Promotions of events not open to the general public
• Promotions of events not suitable for the general public
• Private Events or fundraising
• Promotion of political, factional or sectarian religious events or activities
• Use by business or commercial advertisers to promote particular private enterprises, commercial goods or services, except that entities owned by the City of Benson considered “competition” for other locally owned businesses may make such communications
• Promotion of permanent businesses operated by not-for-profit groups or organizations such as cafes, coffee shops, gift shops or stores
• Promotion of registration, membership or recruitment drives by not-for-profit groups, associations or organizations, except for schools and local youth sports organizations and entities owned by the City of Benson considered “competition” for other locally owned businesses
• Promotion of any special community event where net proceeds are for personal profit, except where such event is undertaken to pay an individual’s funeral or medical bills
• Birthday, anniversary or obituary/memorial messages for individuals or organizations
• Messages that state or imply endorsement by the City of Benson for any non-city events
• Direct facial shots of minor children
• Criticism of elected officials, coworkers, disagreements on policies and procedures, proprietary, confidential or sensitive information about the City, coworkers, patrons, partner agencies/affiliates, members of the public or third party vendors
• Posts or comments considered inappropriate or non-reflective of the mission of the City of Benson

Public Comments:

Terms of Service shall be posted on each City social media/networking site that is utilized and shall be
easily accessible and referred to by the public. If in the case the social media/networking site does not
allow space for the Terms of Service for Public Comments a clearly defined link must be provided leading
readers to the City website where the Terms of Service is available for review.

Terms of Service for Public Comments:

Users are solely responsible for their comments and by using the City of Benson social media/networking hosted feeds you agree to our policy. We encourage you to submit your questions, comments, and concerns, but please keep in mind this is a moderated online discussion site and not a public forum.
• The City of Benson reserves the right to monitor all information posted on City hosted social media/networking sites. Our purpose for establishing and maintaining social media/networking sites is to provide a channel of communication for a general readership which may include children; any comments, content, images and/or links deemed inappropriate for a general audience(s) will be deleted. We encourage our readers to utilize comment privileges for the purpose of exchanging intelligent and informed commentary that enhances the quality of information between residents and the City of Benson in accordance with our Terms of Service Policy.
• The City of Benson may from time to time remind users of the Terms of Service for commenting on City owned social media/networking sites to restore a neutral environment and balance.
• At no time will we ever edit a comment or submission made by a reader; comments and/or submissions are either allowed to remain or will be completely removed.
• The City of Benson reserves the right to block users, at any time, who repeatedly violate our Terms of Service agreement.
• Non-abusive on-topic comments are subject to moderating decisions. The City of Benson reserves the right to remove any and all of the following submissions:
o Vulgar Language (including expletives and letters followed by dashes);
o SHOUTING;
o impersonations;
o incoherence;
o personal attacks of any kind;
o offensive comments that target or disparage any ethnic, racial, gender, age or religious group;
o spam or web links to other sites;
o clearly off topic;
o advocacy for illegal activity;
o excessively long comments and/or submissions;
o promotion of particular services, products, or political organizations;
o copyrights or trademarks infringements; and/or
o clearly identifiable personal information such as addresses and phone numbers.
• The City of Benson may from time to time remove posts in order to correct typos or if it is in the interest of clarity; all comments attached will also be removed.
• The City of Benson respects strong opinions and criticism of our work; to prevent comments and/or submissions from becoming bogged down with discussions of our policies we will moderate comments and/or submissions accordingly.
• Comments are reviewed during regular business hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The City of Benson reserves the right to monitor and/or limit comments and submissions during regular business hours and outside of normal business hours as needed.
• The City of Benson appreciates when readers point out errors and will investigate all assertions. These suggestions should be respectful. To avoid distracting other readers, the City of Benson may elect to remove comments that suggest a correction and simply repost if we feel the repost is warranted. The City of Benson website, www.cityofbenson.com, is the main source for resident information. The social media/networking feeds for the City of Benson may or may not contain the same content as the website.

Mission

The overall goal and mission of the Benson Police Department is to provide an environment wherein the people of our community can live and work without undue fear of crime, disorderly persons or hazardous conditions.

It is our desire to provide more than just a Police Department for our community. Our philosophy encompasses "Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving" coupled with "Continuous Improvement" for the department.

We believe that our effectiveness and growth is greatly dependent upon the commitment and morale of our personnel. The department will accomoplish this by utilizing modern management techniques and providing timely taining. This will encourage the personnel to be imaginative, resourceful and creative in the work environment.

We are also committed to help solve city problems within our ability and scope.

We realize that the success of our department depends upon our ability to communicate with the public. We welcome involvement and participation from the private and business community.

The overall goal of the department will be realized by the contributions and positive attitudes of its members and the community. We draw upon the community through the City Council to give us the power and authority to provide quality professional service.
