I recently stayed here while visiting family for about a week and a half.  I picked Birchwood after a recommendation and was really happy with my stay.  My wife and I loved how close it was to the restaurants in Durham and Chapel Hill and how friendly and quiet the park was.  It is clean and they even had a dog walking trail for our golden retriever.  We will be back again and recommend this park to anyone who wants to stay somewhere clean, quiet, very reasonably priced, and close to great food!

We love it here.. been here for four years.. you can't judge a book by its cover when it comes to this place.  No one bothers you.

I lived at Birchwood off and on for 2 years. A gentleman by the name of Pham who ran the park was honest, always taking care of the property, quick to fix any problem no matter what time it was, and most importantly always treated my wife with the utmost respect.  A gentleman by the name of Jay recently took the place over. He would knock on my door at late hours asking me for my past receipts to see who I paid it to because he couldnt keep records. He also harassed my wife after I told him I didnt have records from 2 years ago.  He also accused numerous people in the park of making side deals instead of taking care of customers that live there.  I personally know of 3 people who have left the establishment because of how Jay treated them.  1 customer who was told that if they dont like it to get the h*** out.  Its too bad because it used to be a nice family park.  All he cares about is money not taking care of the customers.

We have stayed at Birchwood once every year or so for the past ten years.  As one of the reviewers stated, facilities are minimal. Sites are not large, but Water, electric (30 or maybe 50 amp) & sewer on some sites. The majority of campers are folks getting treatment at the Duke Medical Center.  We stop there to visit family in the area. Because he does not know when folks will be leaving, he does not take reservations, but we have always been able to find a spot for 40' RVs.  Everything has always worked. So - Not the Taj Mahal, but comfortable for stays when you spend your days outside the campground. AND everyone likes our dogs.
