Dedicated department full of amazing workers and volunteers! They do so much for our county - most of which people don't even realize they are the reason for.

I really disliked how rude and nosey the nurses and even doctors were when I went to get an STD test. I just got into a serious relationship, and so I wanted to get an STD test to check on my health; you don't know your new partner's background history. The nurse came in and asked if I was in a relationship and I answered yes. She asked for how long? I mentioned almost a year. Then she proceeds to ask why I am here if I have one parnter? I would only come here if I had been with multiple parnters. I was confused and just laughed and said "well to get a std test, I want to be safe? I got a new partner and I want to make sure we are both std free.. is that wrong?" and she proceeds to ask if my partner knows if I am here, but with a snippy attitude. well of course they know...why would I hide that? Also why would it matter to her, it is none of her business? One thing that really bothered me is how judgemental and just plain nosey she was. I understand they have to know personal things regarding my health, but not personal things about my life. Don't make a patient feel uncomfortable just because they want to get a STD test. I called to make an appointment, I wanted to make sure I was safe, it was MY choice, they should be happy that I was responsible enough to check up on my health. They should be snippy towards the people who have STDs and spread them. I do not plan on going back there and I do not recommend coming here for a STD test. sure it's free, but I would say go to planned parenthood, Allen's womens health, or even informed choices for testing. They won't judge you nor will make you feel uncomfortable for getting an STD test.
