I don’t know. The Algonquin feels like a watered-down classic. The old hotel lounge next to the Blue Bar is more appealing than the bar area. What’s not appealing? An $18 Manhattan missing both bitters and vermouth!

Currently here and the service is terrible. Waiter didn't check on us once in an hour but checked on the ppl sitting around us multiple times even though they came in after us. Definitely feel it has to do with the color of our skin as we are the only non white ppl in here. Plus the worst cheese board ever.

This place sucks. Rude bartenders, and then no service to boot. We waited 20 minutes and no one came to the table. The bartender was screaming at us to finish our ciders as soon as we walked in the door. I get it, but I wish he would’ve been honest and told us that things would take a while. Don’t waste your time.

Unique ambiance, all lit with blue light & q cool illuminated bar top. This place is obviously going to be expensive, you should know that just looking into the window & based on it being in Midtown & part of the Algonquin. With that said, the most impressive thing to me - and I work in the industry - is the friendliness of the staff. Really impressive, they make you feel like regulars on your first time and all the staff I've interacted with on my two visits have seemed so genuinely happy to be serving me. Again, I work in the industry so I've been to lots of places and their hospitality really stands out to me. Other than that, the cocktails are high quality & pretty exciting even if they mostly aren't to my taste (the Rye Manhattan I had was amazing though). My date and I usually get a couple rounds and the pita spread with hummus & Olive tapenade and we love it. It can't be a regular spot for me because my bill is always $100+ but between the unique atmosphere and stellar service I had to come here to talk it up!
