Story

Boxcar Bar + Arcade in downtown Raleigh is home to over 100 arcade games, including classic and modern arcade and pinball favorites, skee ball, air hockey, Nintendo systems and more!

In addition to a full bar, we have 24 craft beers on draft and a number of cans and bottled brews. With an always-welcoming vibe, a dog friendly environment, covered, heated outdoor seating, live weekend music, free weekly tournaments, daily drink deals and so much more - we've truly got something for everyone!

Decent arcade place. Mixed crowd. Most games for a dollar or two or even less. Pets are allowed. Has a place inside for food and drink. Not the fanciest of places, a little rustic to be honest. Has games like mortal combat, pinball machines, car racing, air hockey, dance challenge, guitar challenge etc... Over 21 only I think if you are going unsupervised. Not a bad place!

Boxcar is a great experience. They have a strong beer selection and different specials each day of the week. Of course the main attraction is their arcade. It's a blast. They have games ranging from classics like punch out and donkey Kong, a variety of fighters and modern ones too. Also more than ten pinball machines. The only downside is it can be very loud and busy but it is well worth a visit.

Pretty awesome bar with a laid back retro style feeling to it. There are all of the classic old school games available and some new ones too. The drinks are reasonably priced, there is an outdoor patio with lawn games, and it's dog friendly! It does get extremely busy on the weekends, so go mid-week to get a good feel for the place. Definitely will go back again.

Every time I'm here I know it will be a good time. Plenty of drink choices and so many retro games, with a good mix of some modern ones as well. The place is large enough so that even when it's crowded you can still find a new game to play with barely any wait.

We came for their $10 mimosa night. Which was an outrageously good deal (small bottle of champagne and orange juice for $10, yes please). We knew heading in that it was going to be crowded, which it was but we still had no issue getting our drinks quickly and finding a machine to play on. For how many people were in there, there were still plenty of games to play. It’s such a fun atmosphere they’ve created in here, really brings you back to childhood but now with alcohol. We played a few different pinball machines and mortal kombat, all the games worked well. Getting tokens is very easy, you can use your debit/credit card to get tokens which makes everything simple since you don’t have to track down getting cash out. Overall, we can’t wait to go here again!
