After buying an almost perfect first house last year, there were a few imperfections that need attention to get it to the where I wanted to be. After interviewing several local Home Improvement firms and none being as responsive as I had hoped, a colleague recommended Capital Design Build. The owner came to my house and like a talented painter looking at blank canvas we walked through what I had envisioned for each room and where I had no vision, he offered amazing suggestions. I still marvel at my kitchen every morning when I get that first cup of coffee. It is the first or second thing that most people comment on when they visit my house. For a micro-second, there is this fleeting but reoccurring moment where you find yourself imaging Gregorian Monks singing “Behold” in your head each time your eyes glance upon it. While the kitchen is clearly the house’s focal point, the wood floors, ceiling fans, expanded room, and my new fireplace all are equally gratifying.  Now for the sake of complete transparency, both the project time frame and budget were not as originally quoted. However, the end result? My perfect little house in Falls Church, VA. Thanks, Capital Design Build for making a brand new home owner, over a year later, still a happy one!

Great company.  Owners were service plus.   They advised and assisted us in every step of the process of our major home renovation.  We did one kitchen and three bathrooms.  Their showroom is fantastic giving us ideas of products we didn't see anyplace else.  Not only did they oversee every detail, they stepped up to resolve issues caused by others.  Without question, they are best suppliers & contractors we have dealt with.  I unquestionably recommend them for any kitchen or bathroom design and improvement products or construction needs. The company over promises and under delivers! Stay away!!

We came to look at the tile selection as we already had everything else picked out for a full master bathroom renovation. The company owner who helped us in the showroom came across as a very knowledgeable and customer oriented professional. He made such an impression on us during the first visit and consequent contact that we decided to order everything through him. 

Unfortunately we have soon realized (after we have paid in full) that we made a big mistake. Even the simple Kohler products are being delayed with no time frame. The work started but soon after our contractors had to stop and wait for stuff to arrive. The project start date was actually suggested by Capitol Design and we added two weeks just to be safe. Poor or nonexistent communication from the company makes this experience even worse. The phone calls and emails are not being returned. I have to call the office and speak to a person who does not really have a concept of customer service. In her own words she is just a 'messenger' and 'that is how the company conducts its business'.

So now we can not use our bathroom or do any more work. I do hope that the stuff will eventually show up preferably before Christmas.

I am thrilled though that we did not hire them to do the work as well.
