We had a flawless car buying experience at CarMax Madison. We worked with Chuck Urmann from beginning to end, and found him to be knowledgeable and sincere. 

Just like everything else, you have to do your research on what make/model/features you want, and locate the car at any of their Nationwide stores. Then you work with your sales person to get the car checked out remotely, and arrange for the transfer. 

CarMax app may not have ability to show whether a car has a specific features or not. In our case, I had to see the pictures in detail to confirm it did, and then got it confirmed using VIN data sheet. 

There is no haggling at CarMax, so you know at the beginning what you are going to pay. They also have a 5 day return policy along with 30 day warranty, and they work hard to make sure you are satisfied with the vehicle.

I went to see how much they would buy my car for. They tried to give us $2000 less than the Kelly blue book site said a dealer should offer. The staff ignored us when we came in and we had to ask for help, even though four or five people were working. However, once we were paired with a salesperson, he was really nice and explained everything that he was doing. The appraisal only took about 10 minutes, so that was pretty quick. I think the issue is that they aren't going to make a fair offer, even for a dealership.

I give one star because  I like the car  because the rest of my experience was bad. I understand people are busy but when you are in contact with   a sales associated and they say they are available in person and email and then you try to get a hold of them and you can not and have to talk to the manager is not good, or they can not help me out because they were planning a " christmas party at one desk and then send me with another sales team member that was working with Tanya.this was more trying to avoid me. 
One more thing when they take your information make sure they take it correctly if not they will pull your credit a couple of times  if you decide to go with their finance, because they did not enter it correctly when I had given it to them and I was the one that caught the mistake. 
Suppostly they could not call the fiance company and have them just change the number, no they had to pull credit just because of the number.  I still do not understand this because for about 11 years I did mortgages and to buy a house you need is only the social security number and if there was a mistake such as a phone number we could change it and have to pull credit. 
Not impress at all and if you like a car there make sure you do not get the run around like I did or make sure you speak with some one that has good customer service.

Gave me the best price for my car then any dealer. Downside is they over price on a vehicle.
