This is a bitter sweet review. Before I comment I must say until yesterday I had the BEST experiences at Catherine's in Carle Place for years. However, yesterday I was totally humiliated by the cashier for no fault of my own. Specifically, I was at the counter purchasing my items and I asked the cashier to use the electric card on my phone that I recently received from Catherine's, she quickly said in an unprofessional tone, "We don't use that, you have to put in your SS#." Meanwhile this feature is on Catherine's website for customers that do not like to use the card but can make purchases using their cell phones. Its a Catherine's service. I didn't have my card so I put my SS# and zip code in as instructed. I did this before at the same store and it was NEVER a problem for years. This time after putting in my SS # and zip code several times it would not go through. I was shocked! But then I thought perhaps because I changed my mailing address to my PO Box. This lady in an unprofessional condescending tone said to me loud enough for everyone to hear her in the store through each attempt: "You don't know your zip code?" "Are you sure you have an account?" "It's showing no account found!" "Don't you know your SS#" "You put in the wrong SS#""Do you have another form of payment?" Now this may not sound so bad right? But its not what she said it was HOW SHE SAID IT! As if Im some idiot that doesn't know my own zip code, meanwhile she is speaking to a former Customer Service manager w/25 years of experience with the USPS that knows not only my zip code of everyone's zip code in this country!!! And as a Federal worker I better know my SS#!!! People should think before they speak and be careful not to judge people, because she has no idea who she is speaking with. I politely told her it must be under my PO Box that's why its not going through. She rudely responds shacking her head "No, no we don't use PO Boxes the system doesn't take PO Boxes" "Are you sure you have an account with Catherines?" Meanwhile I am a REGULAR shopper there for years what am I some idiot hat doesn't know whether or not I have an account in a store I regularly shop in!!!" The tone was unbelievable. So condescending! I replied of course I do, I just paid my bill today online. It has to be the PO Box. She replies again with that tone, "Well let's try in again and says to her coworker this may just lock up now too many attempts." I had to sign into Catherine's website on my cellular phone bring up my profile to verify that I was correct!! And low and BEHOLD the profile showed my PO BOX as the mailing address and IT WENT THROUGH JUST LIKE I SAID! I received no apology for insulting my intelligence, no apology because she was wrong, no apology for being unprofessional to me as I tried to make a purchase with my daughter. I usually love shopping there. I had to ask for my coupons she didn't give them to me, then unprofessionally hands them to me and to put the icing on the cake when I arrived home and checked my bags she never put the reading glasses I purchased in the BAG! She illegally charged me for an Item and never gave it to me! Now I have to go back to the store and deal with this unprofessional lady. I'm so fed up with this, I'm not driving all the way to Catherine's just for those readers I am reporting this to their corporate office and let them refund my money back. This is certainly an incentive to loose weight because I DO NOT WANT TO GO BACK TO THIS STORE EVER AGAIN!!! I will shop on line or find another store that hires people that respect their customers and do not charge customer's for items and fail to put them in the customer's bag. Catherine's doesn't want customers to steal from them but the cashiers are stealing from the customers! UNACCEPTABLE! I know there are cameras, these stores have high security, management needs to rewind the tape to a transaction completed by Alice on 3/12/16@ 4:40 PM, the video will substantiate the aforementioned. TERRIBLY DISAPPOINTED I REALLY USED TO LOVE SHOPPING HERE!
