Unfortunate experience. We’ve lived in Roanoke for almost 5 years and have taken our vehicles to Christian Brothers the few times that they’ve needed repairs. Recently my wife took our Honda up to get it inspected. It failed, which was a completely legit, by the book, no doubt about it, failure, after it was discovered that the high center brake light was not working. They gave her the keys and the bill for the inspection with an attached estimate for $366 (!!!!!!!!!!) to repair the defective light. My heart sank when I saw it after work, momentarily worried that my wife took the bait. Of course she didn’t. So, once the weather was warm and I was free, which was Sunday, I watched a 4 minute YouTube video. I removed the defective light, re-soldered the connections, and voila! In about 20 total minutes (3 or 4 waiting for the soldering iron to warm up) and spending $0, the light was repaired. Like all businesses, it’s about the bottom line and I respect that 100%. Preying on my wife, and attempting to get us to part with $366 of our money by this perceived deception is unacceptable. “It was just an estimate. We didn’t have time to actually see what the problem was” one may say. I’m going to disagree. If it was even needed, that was an $80 light brand new and could be replaced in the parking lot with 1 screw driver. Please do not pay $366 for a brake light repair.

Can't say it was a positive experience. First, let me say that everyone there was very nice and friendly. I had been there for an inspection in the past, no problem then. It's an old car, and one day - boom - problem with the engine. Running extremely rough with very low power. Driveable, but barely, so I had the car towed in. To look at it, was over $100. OK, I guess. Shop prices. I was told that to run a full test on the engine, it would take an additional 2 hrs. of labor. Considering that if valve damage, etc.. was found - making it toast, especially on a car only worth so much, maybe not worth it. So, you figure - couple more hours - maybe ~240, so I'm in $350 just to have it diagnosed, and the engine could be hosed anyway. What I was told, and not untrue. But, no, please give me the car back. So, I got the car back. Did some research and found what I was told was true, to get to the back cylinders to compression test, you have to remove the intake manifold and some other parts. It's a pain, and well known pain on this model. However, after seeing exactly whats involved, I question that it needs (all in) 1 +2 additional hours of shop time at ~$350 total. Now, I know people need to be paid for their time, and in my own job, I'm VERY familiar with demanding customers who don't always appreciate the time it takes to do things, especially diagnose problems - but I think this was unreasonable, three hours of shop time. The car maybe toast, but I can't just bail on it, I don't have another.

Great guys that know what they are doing. They keep my car running great! Fast and knowledgeable, way better than the time, money, and sales tactics that the dealer presents.

Friendly, fast, helpful associates. fair pricing and good service. I've used them for years with positive results. The shuttle car is a nice service as well.

A MUST READ REVIEW!! I'm only 43. I'm not that old, but I'm old enough to recognize when people genuinely care and aren't trying to rip you off when it comes to auto repair. Honestly, it was just luck and a little bit of grace that landed me at this facility. I was in the city for about a week and ran into a little car trouble. When I had the vehicle towed in, I was greeted in a timely manner and my concerns were genuinely addressed. Costs were laid out to me up front and realistic expectations were set in regards to when I should anticipate a follow up call. When I received the call, I was given the diagnosis and it was also explained to me that there might be some unforeseen things that could present themselves and eventually lead to an increase in my repair total. Ok. No big deal. Gotta be fixed, right? I approved the repairs and was contacted a few hours later in regards to some brittle hoses that failed during the removal and reinstallation. They could have just installed new hoses since they had already made me aware that the failure of those hoses was a possibility. Instead, they chose to reach out to me one more time to make it known that those parts were needed, so I would not be shocked when I got the bill. My car was ready when they anticipated, and I was notified. It truly is remarkable to read some of the reviews that this facility has gotten. There is such an unbelievable staff led by such an incredible management team. It's a shame that most negative reviews come from customers that just simply can't deal with costs. Cars are going to break down. That's what they do. I can tell you this though,.... When my car breaks down, I am never going to hold a repair facility responsible, because I either don't want to pay the money or simply don't have the money. That's just ridiculous. Thank you, Christian Brothers Roanoke. I appreciated everything. Especially the laughs shared through the process. You guys are great!
