Beautiful canyon with river running thru it, palisade walls & elk looking down at you. Good trout fishing too.

Very nice place to go and relax to do nothing, nice drive between Eagles nest and Red River, very beautiful in the mornings n evenings, several streams along the way to stop n try n catch trout, possibilities are endless, lots to do in Red River, worth the drive n the money, or lots to do Nothing in either place, take all your essentials and extra fishing gear, pricy in town, but at the end can't put a price on moments you'll capture

Love this park! The hosts were the best (August 2017) and suggested the best site for us to tent camp. The place was silent after dark - wasn't even any traffic on the road. Lots of day use folks fishing. The RVs could use their generators during the day, but most didn't. Very friendly people.

The drive from Cimarron to Eagle Nest is one of the most awesome, beautiful drives I've ever taken. The road winds between steep cliffs and a river through a forest, where we viewed 4 juvenile deer together. Arriving at Eagle Nest, one sees snow-capped peaks with yellow aspen trees on their slopes, down to a placid lake.
