CPSO doesn't serve doctors or patients. This body only serves itself. The profession of medicine was supposed to be "self-regulated", the only thing that's self-regulated is the College, which means it has no oversight in financial, policy, or other matters. The College solely serves its own interests which are cushy jobs, nice pensions, 6-8 weeks paid time off during the year, and many more lavish employee benefits to count. No wonder it's in the top 100 employers of GTA. From its ivory tower, it lives off money from doctors who have to work in the front lines with sick demanding patients in the face of ever-dwindling recourses from the most corrupt government in Ontario's history. It must be really nice for the College not to have to worry about a financial bottom line and always increase its budget. I mean, what employer wouldn't want to be praised as in the top 100? That could happen when the employer doesn't have to worry about a bottom line because they just impose an increase on doctors' annual dues. What choice do doctors have? Not pay and lose their livelihood? The College loves the sham "self-regulation" status because it can continue robbing doctors of their money, dignity and livelihood. The College shames example doctors convicted in its kangaroo system of justice not because it's the right thing to do but because it's in the self-interest of the College to keep its gravy train without any oversight. This out-of-control bureaucracy needs to be abolished and replaced by a government body that has financial and regulatory oversight. It would serve the interests of the patients and doctors better for complaints to be handled in a special but real court rather than behind the College's doors.

I am no fan of the College but the amount of ignorance posted here is astounding. More than a few posters describe the College as funded by taxpayers, which is so ignorant it's beyond pathetic. Do some research before you post drivel. The fact is the College is 100% paid for by doctors. Every doctors pays $2000 a year to the CPSO. The College gets ZERO dollars from the government. Maybe you should ask your legislator to change that so the socialist-infested gov removes this conflict of interest. Maybe if you start paying for the College, then there will be some government oversight over the College. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Most of you get "free" healthcare while a few pay most of the taxes in this province. It is true that those that pay the least taxes use the most in terms of government services. Why are so many people on welfare in Ontario that don't need to be??? The Liberal gov doesn't give a hoot about welfare fraud because it seem every welfare recipient as a vote. The CRA doesn't punish all the cash earners that pay no taxes. 1/4 of the econonmy is run under the ground with people making cash without reporting their income. the CRA doesn't go after them because it's not lucrative to spend $10,000 investigating to get $2000 back. So the fraud goes on. The healthcare system sucks simply because it's "free". If I was allowed to pay for healthcare, I would. But the socialists banned private doctors and private hospitals years ago so they could unionize all hospital workers to get dues from them. In any other country in the world including even socialist Sweden and Norway, if I want to spend your after tax dollars to see a doctor privately, you are allowed, except for this dump. In any other country. if I want to spend $200 and see a family doctor that spends some quality time with me, I can. But not in this one. Here, I have to wait in a dirty run-down waiting room with 30 other people and grumpy underpaid staff, for 2 hours to see an overworked unhappy doctor for 2 min because he has to spend another 10-15 minutes writing an essay about the visit to satisfy the College. The gov pays the clinic a literally pathetic $30 for a visit, no matter who it is, and what the problem is. So he has to see 6 patients an hour just to run the office, pay rent and pay the staff whose wages keep creeping up while his keeps going down. Instead of running your mouths about the College, go do some research and complain about the people who are the real problem: the socialist politicians of Ontario who see doctor care as a pawn and commodity to get votes. They keep lowering the fees but expect the same or better level of service. What other profession gives the same level of service when you keep cutting their pay? Who? Does your contractor build the same kitchen if you pay him 30% less? Would your dentist, lawyer, accountant give you same service if you suddenly cut their pay? The College is used as a scarecrow to the doctors to force them to give the same or better service when the government keeps taking their pay. The system is imploding and the public's attitude for "getting something for nothing" and politicians' deceit is at the core of it. You think you can use the College as a gun at the doctors' head to give you same or better service, but fear tactics always fail.

NO STARS!!! I had to put one or I couldn't post my comment. I want to know who holds the CPSO accountable when they fail to do their duty in protecting the public from the wrongdoings of a doctor, and does a pathetic ridiculous excuse of an investigation. Who do you complain to When the College is in the wrong? They protect the doctor, and there is NO transparency about the so-called investigation. Where do I go? The Crown Attorneys office won't investigate the College. The police won't investigate the College. You know who investigates the College? The College does. Does anyone else see a HUGE ethical problem with this?

incompetent taxpayer funded organization that has no real interest in unbiased review of doctor-patient complaints. Doctors are free to submit false information ( that can easily be proven false ) which then can easily manipulate an investigation. This appears to be occuring because of the lack of integrity and a highly prejudice investigative process combined with very low standards towards discovering the truth. taxpayers are definitely getting ripped of funding an organization that works against them.
