I would give them 5 stars but you will be here awhile (maybe even a couple hours longer then you need so minus one star) and their billing is a bit silly (minus half a star). However they are knowledgeable and open all the time. No matter what hour you come in the staff work their hardest to help your pet. Everyone has always been very nice and they do check up on your pet after.

Take notice of all the one star reviews and go elsewhere. We brought in a dog found outside to see if she was microchipped. After asking three different people their policy on scanning microchips, no one could answer us. They did not allow us to see their examination rooms either. The dog was taken from us without our consent and they came back out empty handed saying the dog was not chipped and they could not give the dog back to us. We explained that we wanted to take the dog back to the apartment complex where we found her to try to find the owner and if not, she could stay with us rather than a cramped kennel space. They would not allow it. They claimed they were required by law to take the dog and give her to the Humane Society though no such law is in existence. We were told the dog would be given to Larimer Humane Society and, if the owners not found, put up for adoption and possibly put down if not adopted. The system and this hospital specifically have failed this dog and the good people that try to do the right thing by animals. I would not believe that they have the best interests of any animal in mind.

This was the only vet hospital I found that could treat my chicken after hours ! Staff took good care of her and answer all my questions n concerns !! Thank you everyone who took care of Pica 🐔

I have visited numerous vets and veterinary hospitals over the years in different states. This is by far the most impressive service I have ever received. My 11 year old Boston Terrier had a grade III AV block in her and her heart rate plummeted to 35 BPM. I reached out to EVERY veterinary cardiologist in the state of Colorado as well as other teaching hospitals in the country. CSU was the most informative, friendly, accommodating, and was the best price option for my Harli to receive a pacemaker. After contacting them, they cleared their schedule to get her into surgery. It would have taken weeks at the other hospitals. My dog had a pacemaker within 24 hours of me reaching out to them. I met the staff before the surgery. Dr. Gagnon and Dr. Markovic were very informative and communicative. Furthermore, it felt like they truly cared for my dog. At many other places, the doctors throw a bunch of information at you all at once then off to the next patient. Some vets have a very robotic approach to treating their patients. Not here, they took their time with Harli during the operation as well as speaking with me. The two doctors and the 4th year vet student all were so sweet to Harli. I definitely got the impression that they care for their patients as if they were their own. I would recommend the CSU Vet Teaching Hospital a million times over. I wouldn't doubt that this is the top facility in the country.

They will do things like charge you $10 for downloading files off the internet. They do this after you already paid your bill that was many times over that, but they couldn't add this charge in time so you could pay it when you were physically there (for 4+hours). Then if you don't open this bill (for whatever reason) they charge you a $25 handling fee to transfer this bill to the university. Then, if you call to figure out what happened, they tell you "we have 7 days to add more charges on to your account." Then when you realize the letters you thought weren't the university asking for money, it was a bill and you call to pay that original bill. They say, no it's a policy we can't do anything. In summary: Spend all day in a teaching hospital > spend hundreds of dollars to have kids learn how to become a vet > hospital downloads some files from the internet, that department doesn't add their charge to your bill within the 4 hours you were there > they send a bill to your house for $10. You throw away letters as the last thing you're expecting is a bill > After 60 days they click a button and send this to the university, that cost you $25. Now the original $10 for downloading files off the internet is costing you $35 and the only reason you get for this is "It's our policy." Just go to a real vet where they can do things like give better advice and create a bill while you're there. It's worth it.
