I was invited to join a friend here for dinner and they seemed very excited. I arrived ten minutes early and sat down inside on one of the only two available seats to wait for my friend. A few minutes later two more people came in to wait and a rude woman kicked everyone out, including an elder man with a knee problem whom she told to sit on the steps. Her reason for kicking people out was that she didn't want people sitting inside waiting because things weren't ready yet. I'm finding this experience very unpleasant, and discourteous. I'm aware that a bench used to be outside where people could wait, and there is no longer one there. This cafe gets support from community members and other people who come for a pleasant experience and with the idea that this is a community oriented place. I'm afraid that the people volunteering and working here need to learn how to deal with stress and still be kind to possible paying guests, and those who are unable to pay. We are all human and all deserve to be treated with kindness, respect and caring compassion.

The Community Cafe is a pay-what-you-can establishment. This does not mean that it is a soup kitchen! In fact, it's the farthest thing from it. Nightly meals consist of homemade entrees, sides, salads, and desserts. Occasionally, guest chefs from local restaurants will cook up meals fit for a king. The Community Cafe is one of unique places in Bozeman that make me proud to call this place home.

Everyone's intentions are good here. Most widely cited passage in the Bible is from Corinthians, without love it is nothing. It is a nice clean attractive facility. The food was tasty although the portions too small. I was born to wealth and for many years have lived homeless to free my life to fight for the neediest. I have some background in all this. I found myself wondering who was this really for? Was it for the huge needy and displaced by gentrification population of Bozeman? Yes, somewhat. But it seemed more for the wealthy including the students to feel good about themselves although that was not their intent. This is not a bad facility but if efforts stop here rather than start here it is a bad thing. The needy of Bozeman do not need a hospice. They need their more fortunate sisters and brothers to aggressively create life opportunities for growth. And to self sustain.
