Complex Care Hospital at Ridgelake

About

Improving the lives of people with severe illness or injury takes more than skill and compassion - it takes innovation.

Story

The beautiful campus of Complex Care Hospital at Ridgelake, conveniently located off I-75 at exit 207, opened in June 2005 and has 40 licensed beds and a medical staff of more than 70 physicians. We are accredited by The Joint Commission and Medicare certified.

Our hospital specializes in the treatment of medically complex patients who require extended hospitalization. We are passionate about giving our patients the best chance at recovery from acute injury or illness by providing early and aggressive intervention in a critical care setting.

Our highly skilled treatment team includes physicians, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists and therapists across a range of disciplines — physical, speech, occupational, respiratory and psychological therapy. We believe this interdisciplinary approach helps speed physical, emotional and spiritual recovery.

At our hospital, we embrace each of our patients as individuals with a personal history and unique health situation and provide the compassion, support and nurturing necessary to achieve optimal recovery.

Among the many services we offer are:

• Daily Physician Monitoring / 24-Hour Respiratory Care
• Comprehensive Wound Care
• Ventilator Weaning and Respiratory Management Program
• Post-Surgical Care / Pain Management
• Radiology
• Renal Dialysis / Cardiac Monitoring
• Fully-staffed Inpatient Rehabilitation Team - including Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapies
• Pharmacy / Laboratory / Nutritional Planning with Clinical Dietitian
• Internal Case Management / Weekly Interdisciplinary Team Meetings
• Social Services / Psychological Support

Mission

We are building a company that cares for each patient's body, mind and soul.

At LifeCare, we believe sharing expertise and information across medical disciplines is key to developing a treatment plan that fully addresses a patient's recovery - not simply one aspect of it.

Each treatment team is directed by a highly-skilled physician and includes experts in areas such as nursing, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, case management, nutritional services, recreational therapy, social services and psychological services. Patients and family members are important members of the treatment team and are encouraged to participate in all aspects of care.

My mom spent 12 days at Complex Care.. The care she received was outstanding. She came from an ICU setting and her progress with the assistance of this facility was amazing. It's a shame that people who tend to write reviews are the complainers. Thank you Complex Care for going above and beyond in my mom's healing process! My mom will never forget how you hugged her when she left and told her she would be missed. Fantastic place . . . awesome staff!!!

Never saw my husband so close to dying as in this facility. He survived a fever of 110 degrees and septic shock at Manatee Memorial Hospital. Then we came to hell going by the name of Complex Care. He was there for 35 says and when I pulled him out, they had tied him to the bed while he had pneumonia and 3 liters of fluid on the outside of his lungs. I was living in a nightmare. After all he had gone through, I made a terrible mistake taking him to what appeared from the outside as a good facility. His doctors were not even MD's but DO's. He needed a specialist, not an osteopathic doctor. I do not recommend this facility, I can't use the word hospital, to anyone who has a critical condition. I saw 2 people die while we were there and I refused to let my husband be the third. He is only alive today because I moved him.

I cannot say enough good things about Complex Care Hospital. I was admitted after a stay at another hospital for care of my quite extensive surgical wound, as well as for continued monitoring and control of my severe diabetes. The highly experienced wound care team was very professional and exacting while at the same time compassionate. I received attention to my specific nutritional needs. I also found the nursing staff and assistants to be caring and very conscientious, They listened to and addressed any concerns I had. The physical therapy department got me from being unable to stand at all to walking (with a walker) all over the hospital. By the end of 3 weeks I was ready for a regular rehab. I would recommend this facility to anyone needing extended hospital care.

My father was admitted to Complex Care Hospital - Ridgelake after a long hospital stay. While he was no doubt very ill, and his particular case was quite complicated, I feel that the care he received was inadequate and subpar. In the two weeks that he was there, we never got the comprehensive care plan that they tout. It was frequently difficult to get meaningful time with appropriate physicians and nurse staff about important health matters. Moreover, the general nursing care that he received seemed inadequate - lacking conscientiousness and even competence at times. My father was loaded up with drugs in a seemingly cavalier and out of context way that permanently impacted his cognitive ability. The hospital never seemed to reach out for the expertise needed to provide the proper care that my father needed. He didn't get day-to-day care even around basic hygiene that left him with severe mouth ulcers and bleeding gums. My father had to be readmitted to the hospital after his stay at Complex Care as he had declined precipitously there and was in grave condition. He barely survived the ambulance ride back to Sarasota Memorial. Of course, others will have other experiences, but ours at Complex Care - Ridgelake was about as bad as it can get. I would not personally recommend this place to anyone under any circumstances. It may or may not have contributed to my father's death, but it certainly did not contribute to any rehabilitation or relief and was largely responsible for the last weeks of his life being a particularly grueling, painful, and uncomfortable time.

Last year on August 22 2014 I ended up at manatee memorial hospital and almost lost both my legs after extensive surgery I was able to keep both my legs I gat sent here to complex care for the wound treatment and basic care while I was there for the first month I had no problems with any of the staff the wound care nurses had their hands full I had 6 huge open wounds on my legs that were ultra sensitive to feeling though everything else on my legs I couldn't feel they took their time to help me they never got mad when I was being a pain in the butt because of the pain on average it took almost 3 hours to redress my wounds after the first few times they made sure the doctors wrote orders for the proper pain meds even still they would have to take a break after the meds wore off and waited till I was allowed more meds so they could finish and the physical therapist there for the most part were very good and I also was on kidney dialysis that they could do there which I was great full for after the first month they transfered me out to a place manor care in Sarasota that was the worst place if you want someone to die let them go to manor care after 3 days there I ended back into the hospital again because the wounds started to go septic after the hospital got it back under control I went back to complex care and they treated me again and all the staff was happy to see me they took even more careful care of me and got me back to health as of that time I still had no use of my body from the waist Down they let me be put in a wheelchair so I could go outside and get freash air which they did not have to do they always went above and beyond taking good care of me and I will say on my behalf I was loud and a pain in the butt to put it nicely but they never got upset with me or tried to get back at me like I have seen happen in other places I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE THAT IS IN NEED OF IT WITHOUT QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!..........IF IT WASN'T FOR THIS PLACE I WOULD HAVE MORE THAN LIKELY LOST BOTH MY LEGS............
