Rented from cooper properties previously. WORST place to rent from. The owner is arrogant and rude and only cares about his bottom dollar. They made false claims about damage done to the unit that i had already made claims on to be fixed while living there that existed before occupying the space. The front office was zero help with getting any sort of maintenance done. Make sure you do a thorough walk through and take plenty of pics and video (this was the only reason i didn't get a lawsuit against me. i could prove their false accusations, i covered my ass). They are the most shady business i ever encountered. spend the extra $100 and rent somewhere else.

Rented from 2014-2015 then 2015-2016. If you are in a tight spot this is the best that you can afford because that is the clientele they prey on. Thankfully in the two years I spent there (out of which they did 2 repair calls) I was able to build my credit to move somewhere else. They force you to hang up blinds but contradict themselves by saying no holes are to be drilled on the wall. Can someone please explain to me how to hang up curtains or blinds without drilling a hole???? The office people are mostly transient so you having spoken to "so and so" does no use a week later when they left the company. DO NOT AGREE TO ANYTHING THAT ISN'T ON PAPER. AND MAKE SURE TO GET A COPY OF YOUR LEASE RIGHT AWAY. They say the owner has to sign it and you'll get a copy but that person will probably have quit by the time the signature comes back so you'll never actually receive it.

I would give no stars if it were possible. Just called the office was on the phone for over 10 minutes while they made jokes and laughed in the background. I lived here for 3 years never called for anything and the second you call to ask a simple question its worst than if i had called Mcdonalds. Ever since the owner died and his kids took over its a even bigger disaster than before.

This company is a complete joke. In addition to lying to their loyal tenants and failing to deliver on promises, they turn around and accuse you of lying when called on their dishonesty. (They also treat tenants HORRIBLY during natural disasters. Make sure you read the full review to get that story, too.) I spoke to Gloria in the office yesterday morning. I reported a problem with my A/C unit. Since this is South Florida and it's still almost 90 degrees in October, it's not unreasonable to expect an A/C issue to be fixed promptly, right? Well, she told me she couldn't get someone out the same day because they have only one A/C tech to service their massive portfolio of subpar properties scattered throughout Broward County's least desirable neighborhoods. But they would have someone out within 24 hours (in other words, this morning). So, the morning passes with nary a call or visit from the A/C tech. Then 1:00, 2:00, 2:30 come and go. At 3:00, I call the office to find out what's going on. A different person answers the phone, puts me on hold to check with the A/C tech, then comes back and says the tech came to my place this morning and knocked, but left because no one answered and he heard a dog barking inside. I explain that the tech either isn't being truthful or went to the wrong apartment because 1) I've been home all day and awake since 7:30 this morning, and 2) I do not own a dog. The girl flat accuses me of lying and says they need to have someone inspect the apartment to make sure I'm not violating the no-dog policy. Though floored by her audacity I invite her to come out and see for herself that no dog resides here. But she needs to bring an A/C tech with her because I was promised one would be here today and I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a company to which I'm paying way too much for a subpar apartment to uphold promises. Needless to say, an A/C tech won't be coming out today, and I'm doubtful it will happen tomorrow even though the company has promised he'll be out first thing. Because this is Cooper Properties, and if there's one thing you learn within a week of moving into one of their dumps, it's to let anything they say go in one ear and out the other. HURRICANE IRMA STORY: My rent is due on the 15th of every month. I've never been late with it, nor have I been anything but respectful when dealing with the landlord, office staff, and maintenance staff (who, by the way, I have to call weekly due to the deplorable condition of my unit). I left my building and headed north on September 7th due to its location less than a mile from the mandatory Irma evacuation zone. My destination, Atlanta, where I was still holed up on September 12th, also got slammed, with torrential rain, 45mph wind gusts, and hazardous road conditions. When FPL's mobile app stated I still did not have power on September 12th, I called Cooper Properties to make arrangements to pay rent. Even though it's 2017, the company offers no ability to pay online. You have to drop a physical check at their office in Fort Lauderdale. I spoke to Sean on the phone, which you never want to do because it's an exercise in frustration. I explained my situation -- stuck in Atlanta with bad weather/road conditions -- and asked if they would be reasonable if I paid a day or two late. After all, it's a natural disaster, and we're all in this together, right? And, again, they offer NO ABILITY TO PAY ONLINE, which would have made this entire situation a moot point. What was Sean's response? That I get in my car, navigate the hazardous Atlanta roads, find a FedEx, and make sure my rent gets there by the 15th, otherwise I'd pay a $100 late fee. He told me it was my responsibility to "make it happen." So here I am, stuck in Atlanta in a downpour, no power at my apartment that I pay way too much for because it is falling apart and in terrible condition, and, thanks to Sean's edict, I have to risk my safety to get my rent to Cooper Properties at all costs or else face a hefty fine. You can do better than Cooper Properties.
