Del Haven Jewelers has been the jewelry experts since 1973. We pride ourselves in the quality and workmanship of our merchandise, repairs and custom designs. It is our priority that every customer be not only happy but also well informed about their jewelry purchases and repairs. We are eager to have the chance to serve you and be able to show you our established reputation of service, quality and excellent workmanship.

Del Haven Jewelers, the jewelry experts since 1973 is a 2nd generation, family owned and operated, full service jeweler for over 40 years. Our original showroom was opened in Wilmington, Delaware back in 1973 by Francis Pepeta Sr.

Fran Sr. began his career in the jewelry business in 1958 as an apprentice at Jack Coonin and Company. Under Mr. Coonin, Fran Sr. learned the art and skill of jewelry repair, design and manufacture. Through the years many of our area jewelers have apprenticed under Fran Sr. as he once did under Mr. Coonin.

In 1987, Fran Jr. began his career apprenticing under his father and continues to collaborate, side-by-side, today. Fran Jr. attended the Gemological Institute of America in 1997 becoming certified in grading diamonds and has completed the LaserStar training course for jewelry applications.

Rounding out our staff is Jen Brown who has been involved in all aspects of the jewelry business since 1990 and Rita DiSabatino since 2001. Hello, my name is Ellen Redcay from Newark, De; and I have been a customer of the family-owned Del Haven Jewelry store in People's Plaza. For any special, elegant or gemstone- quality jewelry, I go directly to Del Haven! There are several reasons for my significant devotion to purchasing nice jewelry from Del Haven: 1) the owner and all of his associates are very well versed in the aspects of jewelry selection so their guidance focuses on what the customer really desires; 2) their selection of jewelry on site is quite diverse, and is easily extended through the staff's vast knowledge of what other types of jewelry are available and how to get them quickly; 3) the entire staff is very friendly and customer-oriented as well as a number of them are professionally trained to complete jewelry repairs and/or changes on-site often while one waits; 4) Finally, my long time customer experience at Del Haven has benefitted me with many cost-effective, big- savings purchasesthat I could not dream of getting at any corporate jewelry company!

The store's website boasts about having expert staff capable of servicing and repairing all types of watches "from Timex to Rolex." I went to the store with a vintage (quartz) omega watch, to have the battery replaced. After replacing the battery, the watch no longer worked (even though it had been working the day before). I'm not making the accusation that it was mishandled, but they misinformed me saying that dirt in the gears was causing it to not function. This was later disproved by an actual watchmaker. After this, I asked about getting my other (mechanical) watch serviced, and the staff didn't seem to know what I was talking about. They then informed me that the jewelry store does not employ a watch maker, and they send watches to someone who "does it in his house" and that it would cost thirty dollars just to get a quote. If you have expensive watches and care about them, do not take them here.

Edit: I'm certain that I am referring to the correct jewelry store, and the information I mentioned was relayed to me by two employees of the store.

I have done business with Del Haven Jewelers at both the Wilmington and the Peoples Plaza stores.  Our entire family now goes to them.  They are always willing to help, no matter what the situation.  They give the best advice, they definitely have their clients in mind.  I have gone in there with bits and pieces of jewelry that meant so much to me but was not able to be restored because of the damage...but They took those bits and pieces and re-designed them into a new and beautiful look.  I can now still wear the item knowing the cherished parts are simply on a newer surface. I so appreciate all the people there who continue to serve all of their clients so well.  "Bravo, Del Haven"!.
