We love their coffee and espresso drinks. Latte was well balanced and just perfect for me. I really don’t like some cafes make “almost milk” latte and you barely taste the espresso We also love their beans! It made me happy every morning!
I’ve never seen such beautiful outdoor and indoor seating in my life this place is a little treasure I’ll bring everything from Suites two delicious sugar-free specials artwork from local artisans and fresh honey they have a really cool display of an old coffee maker that is going to be one of the best I’ve ever seen her I thought I was walking into a museum they introduced me to something called a Kyoto slow drip which is a Japanese process for making super strong coffee it’s one of the neatest things I’ve ever seen other for some reason expected to come to life and become a robot and pour my coffee Because it’s one of the most unique combinations of glass and metal I’ve ever seen in my life it has a very precise feeling to it. the staff was incredibly friendly they also had several other little contraptions making coffee that I had never seen before but they were very kind and educated me the bathroom is a gender they except most cashless forms of payment the menu greasy right when you walk in I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a neat place before. I highly recommend enjoying hunter ceiling is covered features a lot of fresh plants and flowers to enjoy it has an tranquilizing Brisa comes right off the ocean.
Very first impression: quite some nice places for speciality coffee in Santa Monica. But… the Lavender Liquid Hot Chocolate wasn’t really hot. It was rather a cup full of a bit watery chocolate with a mushy/ squishy marshmallow on top. Disappointing. Similar experience with the coffee. Well prepared, the siphon was nice, but seems a bit more show than taste: The coffee lacked intensity and roundness. There are better coffees around.
Came in for the lavender hot chocolate and it was lukewarm, didn’t have a drop of lavender in it and they didn’t have any marshmallows first thing in the morning. Also got a hazelnut chocolate croissant that I was told couldn’t be warmed up, but then the guy behind us ordered food that somehow could be warmed up. It’s cute and you can get by on it if you’re a tourist and can’t get anywhere else, but for anyone with access to a car this is a hard pass, go somewhere else.
Coming from Australia we grew up with sweet chocolate, so arriving in the States I found it very difficult to find a decent hot chocolate that wasn’t bitter or watered down. Demitasse delivered the goods! While the hot chocolate was a bit more bitter, it was by far the best we’ve had. My partner also enjoyed the coffees he hasn’t had a decent one since. Demitasse became our daily spot and the croissants are fabulous and buttery as well.

Great coffee if you like strong coffee which we do. We tried several and they are all terrific and we are very picky. Smooth and hot too. Amazing baked goods too. This is coffee shangri la.

I came back to change my review because I give immense credit to the owner Bobby for reaching out to me and talking about the issues that I had. Bobby is a very genuine person, and that's why I really enjoyed the location when I first discovered it. Bobby felt like someone who was your intense-but-lovable buddy in college who had dreams and ambitions. I've had amazing experiences here in past years. In 2019, the warm atmosphere really helped me get through a neck injury I was healing from that needed so much physical therapy, muscle strengthening, and mental fortitude in 2020. In 2020, this place was the bright spot in many people's otherwise confused lives due to the state of the world. In 2021, there were times when I would sit with the baristas that were on break, and we would chit-chat. Other times, other regulars at Demitasse would start up conversations, and we'd talk for an hour. It really felt like this place was naturally building a local community and making Santa Monica feel like a small town. After all, Demitasse is located in an area of Santa Monica that's on a more residential corner. So it's great to remember these positives and move forward and expect the same, if not better. For anyone that read my previous review that I am now changing, this modification in tone comes from a genuine place in my heart. I hope Demitasse can strive to bring back anyone that isn't happy, much like Bobby reached out to me and put in the effort. If you come to Demitasse now, you'll see they're putting effort in creating a patio type area outside to increase their seating capacity for anyone that likes outdoor seating, so that's something that some of the old pictures of this location might not show. So now we can talk about one detail that isn't unique to this coffee shop that anyone reading my other reviews will see me mention often. There's an ingredient added into the milk and milk substitute products that this location uses that might upset some people's digestive systems. Many milk and milk alternative products fortify with Calcium Carbonate, which can aggravate your digestive tract in many ways. I wanted to point this out to anyone who might have a sensitive digestive system. Again, this isn't unique to this location. Many coffee shops, including the one that you often hear about that's the biggest chain around the world, uses Calcium Carbonate in their milk and milk-substitutes. So just ask to see the ingredients of their milk and milk substitutes to do your diligence, if you have issues with this Calcium compound. Carlos is a barista that's been working at Demitasse for a very long time. He's such a good dude, so look out for him when you're there. Super fun guy!
