The Zoo is one of Denver's treasures. Just the right size to stay for the day. Each habitat is easy to navigate, on site concessions are pricey but of good quality. The place is always tidy and well maintained. Lots of staff everywhere. If you or your kids have questions, a staff member familiar with the habitat will be nearby. Several exhibits have interactive displays. There is a train for young kids to ride and a beautiful, family friendly carousel. A day at the zoo never disappoints!

I love this zoo! It just keeps getting better. We saw the new tiger area and went to a presentation by a zookeeper about how they train the animals to be examined. We also saw several of the baby animals with their moms. Really made for a fun day!

Tiny enclosures! Some animals are running loose among the public unsupervised, leaving them open to harassment by mean spirited children (and adults), my family didn't enjoy our trip to this zoo at all. I would recommend The Wild Animal Sanctuary, Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center, or Serenity Spring Wildlife Center. They are all excellent options near Denver for anyone interested in seeing wild animals in a more natural (and humane) setting AND know that the admission fee goes to the animals! It is well worth the trip. I've been to some zoos that seem to genuinely care about the animals and their quality of life (most notably the Portland OR. Zoo who have huge enclosures), Denver is NOT one of those types of zoos. They make little to no effort to replicate natural habitats here. They just continue adding new animals and tiny enclosures instead of giving the existing animals decent enclosures and quality of life. The animals are pacing, nervous, and depressed in many cases. You're better off not supporting businesses like them, they truly are just a business, not a place who loves their animals.

Freebies for the birthday boy including a button, ice cream and a carousel ride! Lots of dining options, including a food truck that serves beer and hot dogs. The demonstrations were awesome; we saw a lion up close and a seal (or was it a sea lion?) show. Plenty of parking and not super crowded like a summertime Sunday. Good value at $26 for two adults and one child. If the animals hadn"t been napping the whole time I would have given five stars. :)

Nice zoo with interaction with certain animals that the kids will never forget. they enjoy seeing live moving animals in their artificial environments to learn a little bit about the different species. I wonder if there are guides to teach about each of the different exhibits of all the precious animals.
