If you are an animal lover, have small children, or simply want to escape the city life with something relaxing and nature worthy, Dallas Zoo is a great idea and trip to enjoy. Easy access by DART train takes you right into the entrance, so you can avoid parking fees and traffic. Prices are reasonable for entry, food and everything else can be a bit pricey. Pack a backpack with drinks and sandwiches or snacks to save a lot of money there. The food court is actually decent with good food, cool and ample seating should you decide to try it. There are plenty of eye catching exhibits, beautiful animals, and enough walkways and shaded areas with lush vegetation to ensure a good workout for you and your little ones. Zoo staff and maintenance ensure a safe and peaceful experience throughout the park. Highly recommended.

This place was so much more than we expected. For being located within the busy hustle and bustle of the center of Dallas; you totally feel as if you've left the city completely. I loved how the zoo used the space it had. There is plenty of shade for when the heat sets in; however, you definitely want to get there early when all the animals are out and about. Once it gets too hot, they're less active and just want to sleep. There is a children's zoo area as well with many hands on activities, a play area, splash zone, petting zoo and learning opportunities. If you're making a day of it, being a cooler with some snacks, lunch and plenty of water. There are restaurants and food stands available as well if that is what you prefer. We really enjoyed this place and actually preferred it over the zoo we have back home. Feeding the giraffes was fun and for $5 you get a lot of leaves and carrots. Would recommend to anybody.

Overall the Dallas Zoo is a great place to spend a few hours and worth the price of admission. The park is clean and well maintained. Zoo keepers are very friendly and eager to answer questions about the animals they care for. There are lots of educational talks all over the park throughout the day by the staff but they really need an app to alert you when a talk is about to begin. Before buying tickets on the Wilds of Africa tram ride you might want to ask if all the exhibits are open. Several were closed for tree trimming the day we rode.

Fun place to go. Bought the membership as it was 40% off that day. We can now go for free any time for the next year. Animals were out and active, and it wasn't too crowded. Parking in the back entrance was the right thing to do, but you have to get there early to get a spot. It's a guarded parking area and easier to get in and out than the main entrance.

Its reputation preceded it, but the improvements did seem to make the experience better. We were able to see a lot in just a couple of hours and it's best to do so on foot. The other part of our party opted for the train to cover more ground, but I would suggest exploring by foot so that you can stop and visit a variety of exhibits as you go. Maybe the train is better when you've seen most of the park and you're ready to rest a bit. You can bring lunch, and I would suggest paying for parking online so you can save a few dollars.
