We really enjoyed our stay at this campground and loved the added history of the desert. Our tour guide around the desert was funny and knowledgeable. It's incredible to see how quick mother nature can make things happen if you let her.

I love this place I have been going there since I was a little girl. My grandfather was the founder.

I've been here twice, first about 4 years ago & again in June 2016. We went on the tour each time. We had a great time and have always brought our kids, ages 2 years to 12 years at the times we went. Definitely prepare for weather changes, the tour is outdoors, towed in a covered trailer behind a jeep. Bring a large blanket or towel since the aluminum seats can be hard/cold for kids and because you can set it out on the sand to play at the end of the tour. The staff and tour guide are friendly and polite and the history of how a Desert ended up there in Freeport is interesting. Besides the tour, there is a packed gift shop and a museum based on period farming and equipment. I recommend it for an inexpensive way to spend about 1-3 hours.

Just ok, went for the photo opportunity in Maine...was not our destination just on the way home! about $12 to see the desert, 20 min tour in a trailer behind a jeep. learned a bit but was kind of cheesy. butterfly "garden" was silly, very few butterflies, only monarch in the place was dead. tour guide was nice and informative but honestly seeing it once was enough for me. didn't camp or play Frisbee golf , only toured it

Wish i could rate this even lower than one star. Rudest place I've ever been to. Would never reccomend this attraction to anyone.
