About

Great Selection! Awesome Prices! Come see what makes us unlike any other tack shop!

Story

Do Trot In Tack Shop was founded by Deanna Yamasaki, a Biochemistry major, who thought she wanted to be a veterinarian. However, over the course of her grueling college years, her career goals changed drastically (but for the better). Do Trot In Tack Shop was the result.

Do Trot In was established as a “community tack shop,” in the belief that members of the horse community, as well as the community at large, would be able to come in and generally feel at home. We strive to make our customer service and product selection a priority for all of our customers. Our store is stocked with the items, products, and brands, you and your barn have all depended on for years. We pride ourselves for our outstanding customer service and product knowledge.

We carry everything from tack, equipment, tall boots, paddock boots, half chaps, show clothing, lots of casual clothing, helmets, blankets and more!

We are mainly a Hunter/Jumper store, but do carry products for Eventing and a little bit of Dressage. We are also able to order in anything for almost any discipline within 2 weeks (providing it is in stock at the company where it is being ordered from). If we can find it we'll order it!

Really nice and cozy store with good prices. the lady’s there are super nice and helped me numerous times. They’re very knowledgeable and some are parents of kids that show and are very involved, they we’re able to explain to my mom who knows little about it which helped a lot.

I was in Do Trot In this afternoon shopping for my mom. We were looking for paddock boots, half chaps, breeches and gloves. She is taking her first lesson tomorrow after not riding for many years. I was casually looking for size 75" blankets for my lease pony in the consignment area. Deanna Yamasaki, the owner, asked if she could help. I have previously bought personal items of Deanna's in the consignment section and I have items on consignment there as well, some of which have sold but most items haven't sold after almost a year on consignment. I've come to find out that they were in the very bottom of a large bin where people were unlikely to look. Anyways, there were no blankets in the correct size and weight for my lease pony so Deanna suggested we go look at the new blankets. For laughs and giggles, and just to see what is out there, I agreed and she showed me to the blanket room. She asked me sizing questions about my pony and after I answered, she began to look for the right blanket to fit. She pulled out a lot of blankets and eventually got a step ladder and looked even further for me. Helpful, right? Well, I thought so too. We found one that I thought would fit and she handed it to me. I liked to looks of it and to top it off, it was only around $90!! Probably not the best quality, but it would work until springtime. I took my phone out so I could take a picture of the label and compare prices. As I began to do so, Deanna asked what I was doing. I replied and that's when she started to get rude. In a very rude manner, Deanna said, " You shouldn't do that!". I figured she meant that I shouldn't buy used blankets off of Facebook because of the risk of disease. I asked her why. She responded, "It is very rude of you and not fair to me! You made me go through all this work to find you the right blanket and now you're going to buy from someone else? Not fair!". Actually, I wasn't planning on buying today at all. I wanted to see what else is out there of similar quality and possibly get something used for a better price. I explained this to her and she said to me, "Well, it's very rude of you to do that to a small retailer!". Well, I do understand that her small business may be struggling, but I am a student with a small budget buying for a horse that isn't even mine and I'm not made of money. I also understand that small retailers cannot price things as cheap as mass retailers, but that is not my problem. I told her that the pony isn't mine and I didn't plan on buying today anyways. She just huffed and turned away to start angrily putting blankets back away. I didn't ask to look at new blankets, all I wanted was to see if there were any cheap, used ones in consignment and she tried luring me into buying a new blanket. I told Deanna that I would like all of the items that I had on consignment to be gathered and brought to me before I leave so I could bring them home. I was NOT pleased with the way she treated me. She mumbled an "okay" and I left the room to go find my mom. On a happier note, there is a new girl, Liv, working there that was beyond helpful in finding my mom half chaps and paddock boots that fit comfortably. We wound up only buying breeches that we found on consignment and not buying anything new from Do Trot In because of the attitude and ill customer service that I received from Deanna. I made sure to take pictures of everything that we planned to buy so that I could get it for a better deal from someone who treated me nicely and was respectful to their customers. After this experience, Do Trot In will not be receiving much more of our business.
