This is a gorgeous park that is clearly well loved and cared for by the park staff. It has changed quite a bit over the past two or so years and so much for the better. There are tent sites, RV sites, and several new little cabins to choose from. There are wooded areas, open grassy areas, a river running through, and the Hood Canal. You'll also find plenty of little trails leading you on adventures. The area is primarily flat and easy to stroll through with some of the trails providing a little bit more of a rough experience. Best of all? The bathrooms are always clean!

Beautiful area for a hike. Steam donkey trail is a very easy loop with a mild gain.

Excellent place to spend the weekend with family & friends. You can pickup you shellfish license from the gas station just north of the state park and harvest your dinner right off the beach! The campsites are sufficient. I would have liked more space and foliage between sites since the sound of speakers several campsites away carries pretty far at night. There is an area with cabins that looks like it would be a lot of fun with out of town guests who have not brought camping gear but still want the PNW experience.

We stayed two nights during the week and had a great time! We were right on the bank of the river and had a great view of the eagle nest directly across the river from our campsite were even visited by three raccoons late in the evening. Luckily we knew this was possible and had all of our food locked up. The park is well maintained. Restrooms are clean. Park rangers, maintenance personnel and park managers are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning!
