...I met with Dr. Jones a couple of days after a job related accident that removed the tip of my left middle finger...from that day onward, I found Dr. Jones to be an excellent surgeon with a remarkable 'bedside manner'...he has a kind and gentle spirit about him, and he took the time to explain, first, what I had done to my finger and then to explain the surgery he planned to undertake to repair the damage I had done...he is very easy to talk to and has no problem answering my sometimes silly questions...all subsequent meetings with Dr. Jones were pleasant and professional and he showed a genuine concern for my welfare...and he took good care of my finger...I am told that the surgery was extensive...the finger has healed quite well and I am very pleased with the care I received from Dr. Jones and the staff (including Jodi and Sarah in the Physical Therapy part of Dr. Jones' practice, they were excellent, too)...I highly recommend Dr. Jones for any care needed for hand/wrist/arm care...

When I first went to see Dr. Jones back in 2010, I really didn't know what to expect. I had injured my wrist and really couldn't do any intense boxing or training. No pad work, sparring, pull-ups, pushups etc nothing that involved using my wrist. So, after X-rays Dr. Jones told me I had torn my ECU Tendon Sheath. He was really cool sat down with me explained in detail the injury and even drew out the explanation so I could better understand. It was my 1st boxing injury and to me seemed pretty bad. We asked Dr. Jones what he would do if It was his son and without hesitation he said, I would tell him to have surgery because of the type of injury and that would be the best route and that afterwards he'd be good as new. He also told me we'd be friends for life! I thought he was making a joke and kind of laughed it off not realizing this was going to be the beginning of many visits to him! needless to say that surgery turned out fine and I was back to normal within a few months. June 10, 2011, during my title fight against Canada in the middle of the bout I heard a pop but with the adrenaline and everything else as a fighter you just push on through. After winning my fight my arm was in a lot of pain but then seemed to subside the next day after icing it. So, I just brushed it off. As I kept training it seemed to worsen. My next visit to Dr. Jones would be a little more intense. When I initially went to see him for this injury after examining me he ended up referring me out for an MRI Arthrogram. The results came back that I had a partial almost complete tear in my left elbow ligament aka Ulnar Collateral Ligament (UCL), which didn't mean anything to me so Dr. Jones explained with this injury things could possibly be a little more complicated. Without jumping into another surgery we tried to rest it for a period of time and I continued this off and on for the next year. I was training for a large tournament and heard that pop again and knew my arm was done. So, I met with Dr. Jones again in May 2012, he seemed to be pretty impressed that I had fought a whole year on this injured arm which also happened to be my jab arm but indicated that I would need surgery this time around and it would be way more intense with a lot of rehab and down time. June 8, 2012, almost exactly a year to the date from the initial injury, I would be the first boxer to have UCL Reconstruction aka Tommy John Surgery. However, like the first surgery Dr. Jones assured me everything should be fine and that my arm would most likely be better than before it was injured! stronger and faster and that was exactly my results. I was out of boxing commission for about 1 1/2 years and my 1st fight back ended up being a tournament the 2013 Ringside World Championships in Kansas City which I won fighting with ease. My last injury was my left hand about 8 months ago from a sparring session. I pretty much knew the routine by then and Dr. Jones and his staff were just amazing every single time which made things really pleasant given the circumstances. These injuries are just part of an athletes life and go with the territory. Now I understand and know why Dr. Jones said we'd be friends for life! I have referred a few people to his clinic one being World Champion Ishe Smith and a few others. They too were very appreciative of Dr. Jones and more than satisfied with his level of care. Just wanted to give some background on my injuries and details of each visit I had personally before I said Dr. Jones is an awesome provider and strives to give the best advice and excellent level of care he possibly can. His staff is amazing and always follows up and gets things done in a timely manner! He is very passionate about his work and is just a genuinely good man. I have never had one bad experience with Hand Surgery Specialist of Nevada and am extremely grateful for all they did for me!
