Dr Ryan is literally a life-saver. I don't have enough good things to say about him. He is very professional very knowledgeable and is probably the best Gastroenterologist  in the Hampton Roads area.

I recently moved to the area and found myself suffering from a pre-existing condition. A family member recommended I schedule an appointment with Dr. Ryan, and his office instructed me to have records faxed over. Three days and four phone calls later, the Office Manager finally confirmed they'd received my records but questioned why I had bothered sending them. She scolded me, telling me I could only see Dr. Ryan if referred by a primary care physician. "Ma'm, there's nothing I can do to help you." Had I been properly informed upfront, I could have made progress toward getting the treatment I need. Despite the stellar recommendation of Dr. Ryan, his office only served to waste my time and add to my anxiety.

I was referred to Dr. Ryan by one of his patience. When i called to schedule appointment, his personal secretary very rowdily explain that this is a very busy office and to qualify for a doctor visit i would have to be referred by some other doctor and also i have to tell her over the phone my personal/private information related to my visit. When i explained to her that i don't have a family doctor who could refer me to Dr. Ryan, and my PPO plan allows me to use any doctor i like and i have a very serious condition which is required urgent attention, she said that there is nothing Dr. Ryan can do for me. I received very nice feedbacks for this doctor from my friends and family and i do believe he is very talented, but after talking to his staff (secretary Beverly) and not being able to get an appointment or at least talk to doctor i decided to try a different doctor.
