Do not recommend, i asked the lady if violin still could be fixed and she promise to restore to finest condition and sound. Includes neck rest with new bridge, new strings return present strings. Ebony tailpiece with adjusters. New ebony chinrest. I leave my daughter violin off since March 14, 2018. I had been trying contact them more than 4 times, I drove 2 hours to pick up my violin on due date April 7, 2018. Found the big surprise. They were moving the store without notice the clients, they don’t know where the violin. Finally I be able to contact them they send back the violin by mail. And charge me $315.65. Without fixing anything. Violin can not stay in tune. Violin return as the same look, same condition, same bridge, same chinrest. Same tailpiece. Very disappointed.

A special historic place was a wonderful lady still running it these many years. They do excellent violin repair and valuations. Worth the trip just to meet the lady.

Very nice old woman but basically she's there "working" to be entertained. Lots of old violins not ready for sale (without strings and bridges) but you have to spend a couple of hours to finally get it ready. She even sales very low quality violins like Palatino. Her prices are too hight without reason. Stay away! Definitely not the store to buy violins!

I consigned a violin to be sold and was pleased with how thorough Mrs. Duffy was in researching the history of the violin as well as the bow. She assured me I would get a good price for such a nice instrument. Things went downhill fast. She would not return phone calls and emails. I finally drove to the shop to retrieve my instrument and low and behold, an inferior one was in my case and she was not in hte store that day. I searched through the store, found my violin and bow and after some wrangling with the store employee (Mrs. Duffy had given me a terrible receipt on the premise that her computer system was acting up) left feeling like I narrowly dodged a bad situation. She may have had the best of intentions, but her business practices didn’t reflect that in my opinion. I would not recommend this establishment for selling one’s violin.

I recently moved to the area and haven't played violins since middle school band. I showed up to duffys with an issue with the nut of my guitar hoping to get it looked at by their luthier. Nathan (think that was his name) quickly worked some magic and reformed the nut into usable form. When I tried to pay him for the repair he insisted that it was no big deal and continued on to give me other local luthiers who might be able to do an even better job. That dedication to helping customers and being a good neighbor is incredible and isn't something you'll find anywhere else. Like I said, I don't know much about violins or the like, but I doubt you'd find a store and luthier more genuine or helpful than you'd find here!
