Our family enjoys their hosted events, some free and some for fee. It is a pleasure to have a membership and to support such a necessary organization. However, I wish the museum itself offered more activities for kids, keeping up with this technical age.

Me and my boyfriend had a good time at the museum. We felt it was great but needed a Little more. However we did see that they were doing some painting and construction so hopefully they are adding new exhibits. The freedom, Renaissance and the journey toward equality exhibit was very deep and our favorite exhibit.

It's beautiful to be able to see history so close you can almost touch it but please don't touch the history simply enjoy looking at it.

I have to give this museum 3 stars, though I will purchase a membership this year, simply to support this museum. I felt this museum on the top level was more of an art museum than a history museum. The bottom part does an excellent job of the historical parts, but I am lost on how to categorize this museum. The layout is very weird. It is a beautiful museum, but...you have a part with the mayor, a part of art, slave history and many other parts, but it just doesn't flow correctly. I feel it should tell the story of African American history on one level and then Chicago African American history on another level. Where is President Barack Obama, Jesse White and all the famous Chicago and Illinois African Americans? Lawyers, doctors, politicians, etc. I will be joining as a member and I hope they can do more with this museum.
